Has anyone dealt with Bookbaby as a publishing company?
« on: October 16, 2014, 06:35:54 AM »
Has anyone who writes books ever dealt with bookbaby for publishers? How have your results been? If you have would you sell another book through them? I've been wanting too but I'm not sure if they are legitimate or not.

i work for a book printing company, and one of the most popular publishers we have that prints self published etc books is MillCity
from what i hear they are fair, but i haven't printed through them myself.
what state/country are you located in?
i can hopefully help.
don't tell me details about your story etc, but how you want to publish it, fiction/nonfiction. etc.

I've never heard of them, but I do like CD Baby as a music publisher. I don't know if they're related.

I will always be against the idea of self-publishing, though. It is very unlikely that one would produce quality work if it is self-published. If you're just publishing something simple (by which I mean with little text, like a picture book or a short manual), though, this website looks pretty nice (especially if it is related to CD Baby, which is a very nice self-publishing venue).

ringwraith10-CD Baby is related to BookBaby so that's a relief to hear. I'm so not against self publishing because hey, some people need a little boost trying to make their dreams come true don't ya think? :) And becoming an author has been my life's dream ever since I was a teenager.

one thing you can do as well as self publishing is self epublishing.
i know through barnes and noble you can use the epub tool and publish your book as an ebook, and it will be in their network and available to a wide audience. you can list it for a price and when you create an account everytime you sell one the profits go into it.

are you publishing non fiction or fiction?
there are different publishing companies i can recommend for either.
if fiction, is it mystery, suspense, fantasy?
any of these i'd be interested in buying a copy when you get it published.
not huge on romance (if that's the whole focus) or horror, but if i get one i'd like to buy a signed one directly from you if possible. my other job is a book store and i'd love to help sell them there.
i love supporting authors.

good luck!!!  oh and get it registered on goodreads too. that's where i find alot of my new book recommendations.

If you get your book published and need it on Goodreads, I'm a Goodreads Librarian so I can put it on there for you. Just let me know. :) Sorry I don't have much actually useful advise, though.
