Is this mold?
« on: October 14, 2014, 12:19:45 PM »
I'm in the process of selling my collection and was working on photographing some more ponies.  I have this GORGEOUS Tickle, but I noticed these very faint spots on her...I am wondering if it is mold?

Here is a close up of her symbols...mold or just a little bleeding from the glitter/symbol paint?

It's hard to tell, but it looks more like plastic breakdown to me. Sadly, that's common in the Rainbow ponies, especially the second set.

I still think your Tickle looks gorgeous, but still be mindful to mention the spots as you sell. Good luck!

With the rainbow ponies, the glitter symbols are prone to 'symbol rust' as the plastic breaks down. The spots are age spots.

Yeah unfortunately it is not curable :( I had a Chief who was literally perfect 'off the card' mint...and then one day I looked at him and he had those brown splodges on him, I was so sad :headdesk:

Unfortunately yes they do look like age marks - she can be a little prone to them (there is just something about the colours in those blue and purple shades :( ) So no to mould and yes to age marks. I am sure she will still find a great home - she is a popular girl!

Thanks everyone :)  So, with the age spot issue, what should I ask for her?  Besides the spots she is beautiful.

A lovely Tickle (with perhaps some glitter loss or glitter rust) would run around the $10-12 mark unfortunately I think the age marks halve her value.
