How Do You Organize MLP Accessories
« on: September 29, 2014, 12:30:16 AM »
This is a question for those who have large accessory collections.  How do you keep them organized?  How do you keep track of them?

I have mine packed in zip bags: each pony's set is in a separate bag. Each bag is written by the pony's name. I keep them in a box grouped in small and big accessories, like combs have their own space, dresses and other bigger stuff their own and things like swings, waterfalls (but not yet playsets) have their own box.
Plus I have a list on my PC including every pony with every accesorie written next to it (number, color etc). And also I photograph the new ponies with accessories, so I can see each accessorie in the photo.

I'm moving a lot right now as I launch my career.  So my ponies are mostly in storage right now until I can get a permanent pony room.  I'll put an individual pony's accessories in a very small bag, labeled.  Those bags are packed together by group in a larger bag, like So Soft ponies or Princesses or Happy Tails, and the larger bags are labeled too.  Then those bags are put in a box.  Right now I have 2 boxes, 1 for babies, and 1 for adults.  Then, if I need to check something (like if I already have an accessory), I can find it fairly easily.

When I finally get a permanent job, I'll buy a house and put down some roots for a few years.  Then I'll have a permanent pony room, and display the accessories with their ponies.
Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

Each stored pony has its accessories in a plastic bag placed next to it, makes grabbing a pony and everything it comes with quicker. Extras are stored in a large drawer using separate clear bags, accessories divided by type (flower picks, bird brushes, star combs, etc) and ribbons by source or color.

I gave up keeping mine separate by pony (and I have extras of some things), so it's basically by type and gen all together: G3 combs, G4 combs, clothing, accessories, etc etc.

I have those little plastic craft-organizing drawers from Target. If it is a new pony, I will put the entire stock in a baggie.  If they are older accessories, I organize by types (combs/brushes/shoes ... okay so there are more than just pony accessories in there...)

On display with the ponies :) Makes for lots of fun but also ensures you cant pack as many ponies on a shelf as otherwise possible.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Thank you for all the ideas :)  For now I found a little organizer with drawers.  It will work until my collection grows.
