I find doing FBR to be relaxing Though very slow waiting in between coats I like to rehair too  but it kills my back

I LOVE rehairing!  I only rehair using the needle and thread method, but I find it very therapeutic   Unfortunately, though, I tend to grasp my thread tails in a way that I'll actually lacerate part of my pinky if I do too much rehairing at once, but I tend to just buffer it with bandaids, lol!

I love pretty much all aspects of customizing, though prepping the baits and rehairing are my least favourite. Rehairing can be very relaxing too but I guess it's just the idea that puts me off. It is rather tedious and the more colours I use, the more tedious it gets as I try to manage several hanks of hair and keep them all neat and organised.

In the end I picked symbol and eye painting. I love doing FBRs, that's probably the most therapeutic stage for me. But it is rather mechanical work, and symbol and eye painting are what really bring the pony "alive" and give me the chance to challenge myself. Of course, when I say symbols I refer to all detail painting, it seems these days only few of my ponies have traditional symbols -- I love painting sceneries and other big things, making use of the whole space available!

That said, I also love sculpting. It seems whenever I get to sculpting after a break, I realize how much I love it. After a while, however, I start to think that it's painted ponies that I love best. I can't make up my mind.

Sculpting, it has always been my favorite part.  Then detail painting on MLP, full body painting on model horses.  As for prepping, MLP are way, way easier then models.

Symbol and eye painting is my favorite part. It may be a pain at times, but it really finishes off a pony.
Re-hairing is my least favorite part. I tie each strand and then there's rooting the hair in and sometimes it damages paint... It takes too long for my patience.

For me, it was a toss up between sculpting and eye/symbol painting. In the end, I picked eye/symbol repainting because I love painting eyes. That's when the custom comes to life for me.  The way I see it, if the pony doesn't have eyes, it's not "alive".  And I love how each customizer has their own eye styles that they paint. 

Like others said, I find sculpting to be the most "fun" part. Something about transforming "just a pony" (and I say that with love!) into something totally new/different/awesome. 

Also, the FBR process is very relaxing for me.  I love applying layers upon layers of primer and paint.  It's very calming for me.  But, it gets tedious, so I try to paint two or three custom projects at a time to keep me busy and stop me from losing my motivation.

Rehairing is a love/hate for me, but probably because someone told me I root my ponies hair so thick it's like they're auditioning for a Pantene commercial.  LOL  I do enjoy the process of selecting the "right" hair colors, though.  That's fun.

But, most of all, I love being done!

Hmm, interesting question.
Much as I love all the different colours/patterns/gradients ect you can get from body repainting, I don't think it's top of the list for me as it means spending the next 2-3hrs airbrushing. And what I mean by that is spending about 20 mins airbrushing and the remaining time troubleshooting my temperamental airbrush and cleaning it out afterwards. If it would work first time and was easier to clean (I'm very lazy), then I would love it.
I was very tempted to go with symbol and eye painting, but I usually only enjoy painting one eye. The second one has to match. And that takes hours for me as I'm so useless 
Prepping has to come bottom of the list. G1's are fine, but I rarely customize them and stick mainly to G3's and G4's. G3's are often a nightmare with the glue, and I don't think much needs to be said about disassembling a G4 
Rehairing I usually enjoy. I can watch something while doing it 

In the end I chose sculpting first as it's my new obsession (now that I finally have the courage to try it!), followed closely by symbol/eye painting

I was just going to say that! I love when my pony comes to life! I do have to say that I can enjoy the other steps if its going smoothly but when airbrushing/prepping/rehairing are being stubborn I HATE that part. And I CANNOT believe how many of you picked 'rehairing'. I'm pretty fast at it, but I don't feel like its super creative and its tedious.

Actually my favorite step is the planning stage!! When I sit down research and/or sketch out what I want to do. I wish I could customize as fast as I can sketch out a pony
