MO Napper - body shade question
« on: September 23, 2014, 05:54:05 AM »
I'm selling off my collection, and one potential buyer pointed out to me that my MO Napper is darker than usual:

The color is pretty uniform throughout.  Is she overall discolored?  Just a different lot in the factory?  What say you, pony experts?

hard to tell from that photo - semi translucent pony on a brown background makes her look more brown than she should be.

She really isn't very translucent, since she's so dark. :-/  Not the best picture, but here she is against a white background:

Usually when a translucent pony is brown/discolored, it means the washer holding in the tail has rusted and residue is covering the inside of the pony. Can you see her washer from the outside of her body?

Unfortunately she has discoloured with time.

We dont see it as much in G1 as we do with similarish G3 ponies but sparkle ponies can age and discolour the same as any other...and when they do it makes their colours appear very peculiar.

She has either got some internal issues which is causing the problems - spread rust or dirt - or she has been exposed to nicotine or too much sunlight has caused her to yellow.

Cute though! I like this darker shade :)

Wow, she's quite dark.
To give you an idea:
This is my childhood pony. Yes, my Dad smoked, but not near my toys and she's a touch discolored.

I should add that type of discoloration seems to show up much more in Twinkler...

I had a regular Napper once, her washer was so rusted, she had all brown residue inside. Luckily, she cleaned up nicely.

Hopefully, this one is not discolored. If it is rust, you can try to clean her on the inside.

I say open her up and see if she's full of rust. That could definitely cause an orange tint!
