New Watercolors: Cool Breeze and Baby Quackers!

The softness of the medium makes Cool Breeze look really delicate, almost ethereal. Very pretty!

I also like the vivid colours of the Baby Quackers painting, the puddle really looks like water and those rainbow coloured raindrops were a great idea. I'm not sure if it's my monitor but I would like to see a bit more shading on Quackers, mainly on the face and ear, to define the shapes better and to balance out the dark colours in her eye. But it may just be my monitor making the white appear brighter than it actually is, wouldn't be the first time.

I know! The scanner really doesn't pick up on the lighter tones at all... there is some gentle shadowing around Baby Quackers face, neck, legs and rump that are getting washed out. I could try scanning at a higher res, but then the pic would be so big. I guess we'll have to leave it to the imagination! :/

Oh, scanners I feel you, I've had my fair share of scanner issues! Currently looking to replace mine, I've had enough, lol.

Have you tried adjusting the lightness/darkness? Or whatever the settings are called... I always check the highlights/midtones/shadows settings, the latter two are usually fine but I often have to lower the highlights value. That will make the white areas sometimes appear greyish but it picks up subtle shading and light colours better. I'm not sure if it works for you but you could try it if you haven't played around with these settings yet.
