Princess Aquamarine variation?
« on: September 13, 2014, 01:18:22 PM »
Hey guys,

In my childhood collection post squishy turdl mentioned I might have a variation of Princess Aquamarine, of course I was curious so I snapped quite a few pictures of her - so, is she a variation?

I put her next to Up, up and Away who has quite light pink hair, but next to Princess Aquamarine it looks almost white...

Well, thank you in advance!  :art:

I could be wrong, but I think you might have one!  I know there is a version of her with bright bubblegum pink hair, and that looks like it could be the one to me!

*edit* What accessories did your princess come with (if you remember?)

Sadly, other than Prickles I don't know what accessories she came with.
I've found a purple star wand, but that could also belong to Princess Sapphire, or to Princess Ruby (whom I haven't found yet).

Thank you for your help

hihi!  I have her regular and also german release (bubblegum hair).. That hair colour looks definately like the german release but I could be wrong. As for accessories that came with those european release princess, dont get me started what a nightmare, there is no clear line which pony came with which colour damsel hat / want/brush and they seemed to have mixed them up with every batch that went out..

I'm off to meet a pony friend (and pick up some new ponys) now but I'll upload a comparison foto of both serenas when I get back in a few hours. xxx

As for accessories that came with those european release princess, dont get me started what a nightmare, there is no clear line which pony came with which colour damsel hat / want/brush and they seemed to have mixed them up with every batch that went out..

I spent quite a while looking at the accessories for the princesses with dragons, and although there was a fair amount of variation still, it was developing into what looked like two different releases (this is born out by minor differences in the UK box). Also, as I was working mostly on a survey of childhood information, there was likely to be mis-rememberings, or could have been the Italian issue who also had dragons. The carded princesses without dragons seem to be roughly similar (more consistent if anything!)

A dark purple wand did come with Princess Aquamarine in Europe :)

Link to the results (this is several years old now) is in my sig, but also http://www.slidersweb.net/sarah/mlp/

squishy turdl - thank you for pointing it out to me in the first place! :D

Queen of Scotland - thank you! Hail the Queen  :worshippy:

Queen (Maybe) Hathor - oh wow, thank you for that link :) It feels difficult for me to say either which way. Is she worth differently depending on if she's a variation or not?

Queen Guinevere - that's some thorough research, thank you for sharing! Then I probably have Princess Aquamarine's dark purple star wand, and Princess Sapphire's damsel hat at home right now.

Wonder what I'll find going through the rest of my childhood stuff  :frolic:

Thank you all

As promised, here are some comparison photos.

I must apologise as both of these ponies are pretty grubby, they both came out of the 'Ponies that need to be cleaned up' box.

German Princess Aquarmarine is on the left and regular release Princess Serena is on the right.

One major difference that I've noticed in all my german princesses is that they have a more concentrated cheek blush, it's not so softly faded as normal blush and more of a brighter darker fuschia colour than the soft pink thats normally used.

No patent pending stamp on the hoof.

Hope this helps, either way you have one very pretty Pony there! xx

squishy turdl - thank you so much for the comparison! My Aquamarine has a Pat. Pend. stamp, but it seems to me that her hair matches the German princess in your pictures. She has a brighter blush as well compared to my other ponies, but compared to her sister Princess Sapphire they both have very bright blush.

hihi a German princess  :lovey:

Hi, I found a picture of my German (that's where I bought her - I don't get used to all those variations of ponies ...  ) Princess Aquamarine (her hair is a very light pink) and my Dutch (?) Princess Sapphire (she has a blue dragon), maybe it can help? At least I know for sure that they are wearing their original accessoires.
