To remove or not remove from box: Funko Ponies
« on: August 26, 2014, 01:29:55 PM »
Hi all,

I am interested in opinions please: do you remove your Funko Ponies from the box or leave them in the box? I can't decide. Do you think being in the boxes will make a difference in future value of the ponies? The boxes are starting to take up a lot of space.

Thanks in advance!

All the Funkos I have (the larger ones) don't have any tape or seals or anything that need to be broken in order to remove them from the box, so I don't think removing them makes a difference. I think they designed them this way so that they could be shown by collectors and not take up as much room. I wouldn't break down the box or anything, though...just stack them in a closet or something :)

I would remove them from the box as well :) At least if you want to. I dont feel even remotely guilty or worried over something as new being deboxed.

I would say keep the boxes, and feel free to take them in and out, I have had them displayed in box and outta box. Thats the best part about Funkos you can remove them to display take pictures, etc, and pop them right back in again, in fact there is no way to really tell you even removed it anyways, unless you damage it of course. So display however you like, but if I were you I would hang onto the boxes.

Beautiful Rarity by the way!

I remove them and pose them in front of the box, they go back in just as they came, so I don't see any reason to keep them confined!

I'll remove the plain ones, but not the glitters. I HATE glitter and it gets everywhere. Also, the chases are rarer.

The glitter is embedded in the plastic so it shouldn't shed.

Plus the glitter on the manes is stuck on with the strongest adhesive known the man, on mine mostly in ugly huge clumps leaving the majority bare ugh -_-

My opinion on the Funkos deboxing issue... I kept all of mine boxed but recently decided I didn't want to collect them all. I had them stacked up in layers blocking the ones behind and was unable to properly enjoy them. I was going to sell them all but then kept a few of my favourites, then I took a few more out of their boxes and found I loved them loose (where I wanted to just get rid of them MIB, I couldn't stand the sight of them).

I say release them! And of course keep the boxes, if you ever want to sell just give them a dust and pop them back in, easy peasy. :)

There's nothing wrong with taking them out of the box to have a better look at them before putting them back in the box, since the boxes don't really seal anyway and there's no way you could possibly tell. I suppose if you displayed them out of box on a shelf for an extended period of time, they might get dusty? But that's really about the extent of your problems!

I've taken to hanging onto all pony boxes and stacking them Tetris-style against the wall facing away from me, so I can see the cool art on the back. Funko boxes make up a large staple of my box-wall. ^.^

I suggest to rotate! I like to take mine out of their boxes and display them, when I wanna change my nightstand up just put em backin the box and stack them on the shelf! So yeah, hang onto the boxes since they are easy to remove and put back in, they look nice for displaying too. Glitter are sooo cool when the light hits them just right, one of the reasons I take out the glitters!!! I love taking pictures of them too!!! Right now they are in their box becaude my dragons are occupying my stand. Its sooo nice funko doesnt use tape!

Only on the bodies though. The manes/tails have it on the outside. I mean, it does stick on pretty well, but it can still get on other ponies, ect. and since they are chases it keeps them in better shape.  ;)

When it comes to Funko ponies, I would (and do) remove them from the box. They look way much better loose.
