Pegacorn sounds goofy-

I like winged unicorn, but mostly because I was obsessed with Whisper the Winged Unicorn.  I'm fine with Alicorn I guess, but it's not very pretty.

I remember Whisper!  I've always called them winged unicorns but I guess I call the FIM ones "alicorns" because the show does.

The first time I heard the term, "alicorn" was in an Indiana Jones adventure book.  I was sooo disappointed he was just looking for the horn.

Yeah, I loved those books as a kid. (I hate to admit it, but mostly for the pictures and the stickers)

I think of the FIM Alicorns as Alicorns too-

Thanks to FIM cartoon, when I think of "Alicorns" I think of freakishly tall unicorn-type creatures, with improbably large eyes, generally with magical flowing hair- that look a lot like Celestia or Luna.

I'm sure Twilight will achieve her magestic stature and wavy hair at some point in the future...

I personally prefer the term alacorn with an "a".  It's more descriptive with "ala" for wings and "corn" for horn.  Also, alicorn is actually the mystical material a unicorn's horn is made of.

Same here - of course, now that "alicorn" has become so popular, it looks weird when I type "alacorn.' Never knew that about a unicorn horn's material!
I'll put something here some time

As a kid, I called them Unisus-es. Like the word "pegacorn", but the other way around haha! I was convinced they were my own creation. I still have a Unisis I made out of clay and her magic carpet, and it's not bad considering I was a second grader.

Personally they are Winged Unicorns to me (Blame Whisper the Winged Unicorn for that and the practical fact that is basically what they really are, or also the reversed... Horned Pegasus, but that sounds weird)

I had a topic around here somewhere about what people called them XD

I kind of find that interesting because while back in the 90's I don't think there was an official name for them, there was art floating around that was Winged Unicorns (or the various names people called them). When I searched for them Winged Uni was the term I used and got a lot of hits in the image search xD Then again I have to wonder if for some it's just a high love for fantasy horses and/or having a very strong imagination, not saying that anyone here didn't have one but probably a different level of it XD

 probably cuz i spend most of the 90's watching nick at nite. didn't read for entertainment till i was in my late 20's and well was mostly interested in turtles and mighty max and the like. ponies was my only "feminine" interest. or so my mom says. afraid of horses, so i never really cared for unicorns or the like. not sure why ponies were different. but they didn't even fall into the same realm in my mind.

Oh dear this old debate again.... I've been calling them alicorn since I was a teen because I love Piers Anthony Xanth series.... I blame him. :D

I've always called them alicorns due to your website and persona from back in the day!
Thanks to calico star for my avatar!
