Magic Nursery Pets
« on: August 21, 2014, 10:08:42 AM »
I found a Magic Nursery Pet at the thrift store yesterday and broke my no regular sized plush rule. It's a bear one. Unfortunately it has some issues. There are the usual discolorations that will require a surface clean but that's to be expected with old plush.

However the ears have some weird cut outs and one of the ribbons is cut. I thought the ears just had a slit I could sew back up but one of them is a half circle. Is there any way I can fix this? Or would I be better off finding new fabric to line them (maybe some lamé) and turning the ears into cat ears since the bear is my least favorite of the different animals they can become? Cats are my favorite and anyways the ears are too short to become rabbit or dog ears.

Poor girl :(

Would it be possible to just sew those half circles shut?

Not without warping the ear. Tho I'm wondering if I could just flap over the top of the ear. It would cover the hole and look like lion cub ears.

They're decently popular so I wouldn't modify her, you could always put her ears back inside her head and display her like that?

I'm thinking just using some invisible stitches to keep the top of the ear folded over to hide the holes and maybe somehow fix the ribbons. They really look creepy with the ears inside.

I'd just stitch them up and let her have "scars" but I'm not too particular.
