Gauging interest ~ Mug Swap 2014

Hey all!

I wanted to gauge some interest in a Mug Swap this year to see if there are enough who would be interested. If you were not in the swap last year, or did not see the threads, please take a look here:

I know it may seem like I'm a little early bringing this up, but last year we had a little concern with being cleared in time for the holiday swaps. So in wondering if starting just a week or two sooner would help those who would like to be free for multiple holiday swaps? The timeline from last year can be seen in the link above, but I've pasted it here as well:

-Sign-ups September 20 until Monday, September 30 (or until we get 15 participants)
-Partners by Thursday, October 3rd
-Shopping: October 4 – November 1st
-Shipping: November 1st – November 7th


Budget (last year was $15 plus $5 extras). Did this work for everyone?

Mugs will need to be packaged INCREDIBLY well. This means box the mug and put it inside the larger box or somehow ensure that it is being shipped safely.

Anywho....I had a lot of fun hosting this swap last year, so I hope there is some interest again! Please feel free to give any feedback to make the swap better! Thanks!

not so sure this year.  I got so many mugs last year and by ship date I'll be around 6 months off moving internationally again.  So new mugs would have to be rehomed.

It was a super fun swap though.

Oh man oh man oh man. I really want to do this again, but my wedding and honeymoon is smack dab in the middle of the shopping time. I won't be available for at least two weeks. I'll be in Florida October 15th-26th, but I'm sure I'll be busy beforehand with all the last minute details and packing n' all that.

Although I still really don't use mugs since I don't drink coffee, just tea occasionally. The one that got busted in the mail and I reglued is the only one with a full time job - holding my sharpie markers

You could always ask your partner for a tumbler or other type of drinking device lol.

I think I may be in? But this year we have Eldest in Marching Band so I'm not sure how that'll work with the schedule.

Im going to think about it some more, Either way I hope it gets cleared. To anyone who didnt do this last year? It was SOOO much fun!

I don't know if I could afford it at this point, mugs are mighty heavy. But I could consider if I got a partner who didn't mind getting just one quality mug. That's just about what $15 would buy here anyway...

I think a lot of people (me included) went a bit overboard last year lol. I would love to just receive one good quality mug . I considered limiting it to 1-2 mugs so that no one receives a ton of mugs this year...but wasn't sure what others would prefer?

Lol I could definitely do that. It would help to keep shipping down as well. I was thinking limiting to 1-2 mugs with an option for a third if it's hand painted/crafted/etc. Thoughts on that?

Hand painted/crafted by whom? I have ready access to two weekly markets and a number of stores where I have come to know the crafters of pottery items. If by anyone, that means it's truly a 2-3 mug limit rather than the 1-2 you're going for.
