Could they be quite old? Its hard to tell from the images but they look like Alexander Dolls, the ones from about the 50s; the faces are quite distinct but its hard to tell for certain unfortunately as the images are a little fuzzy.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

No comment on the Russian dolls- but I can help with the others maybe!

It just so happens I was just looking up similar type dolls for my wife (who has her mother's old dolls) - which would be about the right age for your granny since my wife is in her 40s.

I think they are Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls- and there may be a few knock offs in there too.  The prices for these vary DRAMATICALLY so you should figure out their names and then check completed auctions.  SOme are worth only a few dollars despite their age, saddly. Others are worth thousands! (Although not many)

If you check their legs, it will probably say Storybook doll right on it!
Here's some more handy info http://www.nancyanndolls.com/Characteristics.html

You might be able to identify them here: http://www.nancyanndolls.com/PhotoAlbum.html

But I seem to remember that many of the dolls probably have a tag in their box or a sticker on the front of their dress with their name- so you might want to just wait until you have them in hand, since it will be obvious at that point who they are, and probably their names too, and if they are knock-offs or not.

Yep.  That's what they are.  And indeed, prices vary dramatically.  The prices have been down on them for some years now unless it's something super rare and/or special. In fact, the whole vintage doll market is completely gutted right now.  The heck if I know.  Anyways, the porcelain ones are generally the ones worth the most, they're the oldest.  Followed by the composition ones.  Which are worth a bit.  Plastic  ones are near worthless.  They produced them over about a decade's time, and during a bit of a transitional time frame.

The boxes should be marked, they don't look like knock offs to me.  They should also give you the numbers or model number.  Basically, sort of the 1930's - 1945's version of UPC or item look up, which you should be able to look up to give you further information via ebay or sites like this: http://www.nancyanndolls.com/DollsForSalePage1.html .  There were a lot of small cheapy dolls out at this time, but really not any specific Nancy Ann Story knock offs so much.  Many more Ginny knock offs to be honest.

If wish I could be further help, but I don't collect these.  You could quite possibly be sitting on quite a bit of money, or just a bit.  It's hard to tell.  I'd be far, far more knowledgeable and helpful if you had one of Nancy Ann's other doll lines, like her Show Styles or even Muffie for that matter.

hi everyone!  wow i knew MLP  dollhouse would not let me down LOL!

I will have to see the dolls in person when i can, but yes they do look like the nancy anne dolls to me.  at least the boxes look right etc and 1940s era sound about  right as they were  originally my grand aunts and  my grandmother  (who is 92 now )inherited them when she passed away  my grand aunt was the younger sister.  I will ask to see if someone can take better  pics of them so i can better iD them.   I couldn't really find any exact matches on the websites , but maybe there were more made than listed there.  I was curious about them as i may inherit them, unless we have  a super rare one or they are worth tons of $$  they may be sold,  cuz my  grand needs the $$ right now.

I won't go into details here but we have  had a crazy  horrible year, my poor grandmother has lost her husband  , her daughter ( my mom) and  her house  this year all within a 6mo time :(   and now has to liquidate her estate. for $$  :( :(

Any way, i  being a  toy collector was tasked with finding out more about these beautiful dolls.  so  thanks so much MLP arena members for pointing me in  the right direction.  My mom had thought they were madame alexandar ,  and grandma just said world dolls??   but when i was looking at those they didn't quite fit.

Well, I recognize at least one of the ones you have-  "Beauty"  the site is selling the same doll you have for $185!
http://www.nancyanndolls.com/DollsForSale/156BeautySale.html

It also looks like you have "Hush a bye baby" who is worth between $100-$200
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Look in his box for a tag like the one above (gold sticker on his dress that says storybook dolls) that might have come off...

You might try joining a nancy ann storybook doll facebook group, I bet those ladies could ID these dolls for you in a jiffy https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nancy-Ann-Storybook-Dolls-West-Coast-Gathering/119748364718999
