Well, Roogna, you were right...
« on: August 10, 2014, 05:41:18 PM »
At your Customs presentation in TN, you said to make sure you have your paint water in something other than a cup (I believe you use an old butter container?). I foolishly scoffed at that idea, thinking how in the world could you possibly drink out of your paint water cup and not your drinking glass?

And then you or @Tiella brought it up again at the panel, and I was like, jeez, it's simple, just don't drink it, what's wrong with you guys?

So here I am, not even a month later, painting a peg doll commission, and what do I do?

Yup.

:hangs head in shame:

I was a fool to doubt you :P

ha ha oh no. My brother was painting one time and got up from his work to get a snack. I can walking into the kitchen, saw his cup, thought "heh heh I'll be sneaky and drink his drink" I drank about half his 'drink' and waited for him to come back and call me out on it. He sat down picked up his paint brush and went "where's my paint water....." I was in shock!

hah hah we all drink a little paint water from time to time.

LOL That's too funny! I have never had that problem. I don't tend to have drinks sitting around when I paint. I spill things enough I don't need whatever I'm drinking getting knocked over. The paint water is enough to wrangle!

ha!
yeah, I do use an old butter container that's been washed (so no butter residue). When it gets too nasty, I recycle, then grab a new one. :D

I usually use small glass jars for my paint water, the lids come in handy as I have cats who tend to knock things over on my desk. I also do not confuse them with drinking glasses or cups, but more than once I've nearly dipped my pencils in my tea or coffee cup while painting! :D I guess that's not as serious as actually drinking your paint water, lol.

Yep, this is me too. Always spilling things. :P

But I do put my paint war in a small jar. I'm definitely the type of person who would be foolish enough to confuse her paint water for her drink, so I'd rather not take any chances! :P

I always do this! I usually have my paint water in a normal plastic cup and then coffee in a mug beside it (because I'm a moron) and I still drink the paint water instead of coffee

Oh my gosh!  Too funny!  I'm so happy you came out and said something.  Made my day!
I think eventually, most painters will make a little slip-sip.
Thank you, brightberry, for my lovely avi.

Ha!  I think everyone who has used a paint-water cup has done that at least once!
What's even more fun: accidentally dipping your paintbrushes into your soda/tea/whatever.  That's what I tend to do!  >.<

Yup I've been guilty of both drinking my paint water and dipping my brush in my drink. XD  Distracted by painting.

Thankfully it has been a long time since I have done that and with painting in oils it is less likely to happen.  I do still sometimes forget and put the wrong end of my brush in my mouth though.  LOL
