Where do you get your lego parts?
« on: August 10, 2014, 03:04:06 PM »
I've been building a lot of minifigs for my lego city, and I keep running low on things like torsos, legs, heads, whatever it is I'm trying to make that day and wondering if anyone has any specific sellers or online stores they like to go to for parts?

The pick a brick selection is too small and takes too long, and I've been dabbling around on ebay. Toywiz had parts but the site had such amazingly horrible reviews I ran away from it.

Besides the Lego Store and official sets/minifigs, I mostly get mine from Ebay and Bricklink :)

Toywiz is very reputable, they just overcharge for everything they sell, but if the price you see is acceptable then go for it.

I would try Ron's rescued treasures for parts as well, they have some good deals there.

Unfortunately it's still in loads of pieces because I haven't assembled my lego table yet, but here's some scenes from it:

It's sort of the physical version of the superhero town I'm writing right now, St. Genevieve

A friend of mine at work gave me two file bins full of pieces leftover from her son, plus one of those nice exclusives the Lego Store carries. Wouldn't take payment. We poured them on the floor and I let the kids roll in them like Scrooge McDuck. She gave me another bin that we haven't even gotten into yet.

Craigslist can be pretty competitive, but that's an option. If your neighborhood or area has a classifieds webpage or beg, barter, trade sell Facebook page I'd check there. Add a wanted listing for yourself there, too.

I get almost all of my bricks and Bionicle elements second-hand, mainly through thrift-stores. I have ended up with hard to hind mini-figures, brick colors and Bionicle masks that way. It also tends to be a little easier on the wallet.

A lot of what my hubby has in his Lego collection is second hand bottom of the bin pickins. He buys certain sets just for random parts. Expensive collection he has (and it's really not that much compared to what others have!)... I do like what you've got going so far Rosen!

Oh yeah, I should be more mindful at the thrift - I've gotten some big bags from there before, but I gave them to my mom!

And thank you for the compliments!

Ah! I tried the thrift and found a whole bag of lego that also had these really tiny mini-bricks I bet I can use for my figures to play with.
