Customised Novi Star

Heya MLP peoples.

This is my first proper thread aside from my intro. I thought I'd start by sharing one of my custom dolls.

So I went shopping in Argos and noticed they had some Novi Stars reduced from £19.99 to £4.99 so I decided to snap one up.
I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the dolls themselves but I do think their art style and general body type are adorable.

I started out with this girl: Mimi Merize

Her eyes spin if you press her antennae. The first thing I did was pull all the tinsel out of her hair and whip the antennae off. I then sanded ALL the purple stripes off of her body which took hours! Underneath all the purple she had a beautiful dainty doll body and face. I finished by gluing her eyes so they wouldn't spin and then I painted her face and added her tattoos.

Yeah, she's made from hard plastic so I was caught between a rock and a hard place as far as acetone was concerned. When I tried acetone it only smudged it, and since it has a tendency to melt hard plastic toys I choose to sand instead.

About 4 hours worth of sanding alone to remove the stripes.  It was crazy.

Dang!!!! What a huge and Vast improvement!!! They might would have sold better if they all looked as fab as this one! Very Nice Job!!

I'm not a fan of Novi Stars. Like, I find them pretty cool looking but nothing I'd collect or covet. But, this is a really cool looking custom.

I know what you mean. I actually found her original form to be pretty gross really, but I could see she had an elegant design underneath it all. If she wasn't on sale there is no way I would have bought her.

That's exactly what I thought of! If it was an elf or fairy line then maybe I would be interested in these dolls
