How I packaged my ponies for a move.
« on: July 31, 2014, 05:06:27 PM »
I recently had to move to a new apartment and needed to figure out how to properly store my G1  ponies.

I went from throwing the lot into a basket and storing in my closet when I was younger, to a large plastic tote with the ponies shoulder to shoulder, to how I packaged them with actual care for this recent move across town. I decided I needed to store them better because I was getting plastic transfer from the shoulder to shoulder storing technique and that is a pain to remove (I did).

So I did some forum searching and decided to order a bundle of acid free tissue paper. I individually wrapped each pony taking care to wrap their hair around their necks and legs so that they wouldn't look silly when I removed them. I also wrote their pony type and name with pencil on the outside of each packaged pony. I put my petite ponies & little kitties/puppies into a My Pretty Kitty perfume bottle.

I didn't bother with silica this time around. I figure the paper will be good enough atm. They were wrapped up for about a month. I recently opened it up and took my project ponies out and some of my favorites and they unwrapped beautifully.

Their hair came out perfect. I'm very pleased and I don't have to clean off any color transfer this time around.  :P

Acid free paper?  then again, I don't think it would matter to me since I own G3s and G4s and I'm pretty sure they would be fine in a bag whenever I decide to move  ;)
Oh no!
