I LOVE the Avatar series.  Aang's story is in my opinion much much better than Korra's, but I still love Korra and I want to keep watching.  AND I want there to be more Legend's of future and past avatars. I think it is really solid storytelling.

I don't know why Uncle Granpa even exists and we have a running joke that Spongebob is airing on TV at any given time of the day.  Hasn't it been done to death yet?

Honestly... I'm not surprised. Like many spin-offs, this show just didn't meet the high standards of its predecessor. I'm not saying I don't like Korra, but I did kinda stop watching in the middle of season 2 and haven't gotten around to catching up yet. My roommate is actually a huge Avatar fan and is thus also greatly anti-Korra. She watches it, too, but with a grain of salt.

I think...Aang had something completely special about him.  He never was egotistical yet he was somehow the embodiment of the avatar complete with being one with the universe and having an inner peace and spirituality and innocence and kindness and goodness and selflessness, all the while still being a playful little boy.  Whereas with Korra she is a little more like a normal self-centered teenage girl and I don't see the connectivity to life and peace as much within her as I saw with Aang.  I see her more as a rebellious teen with special powers, rather than the avatar.  And for this reason, I don't think it works as brilliantly as it did with Aang.

I do like how Korra is a different person than Aang, since it wouldn't have worked if she was as calm and peaceful like he was (to an extent). After all, she may be the new avatar, but she naturally wouldn't be just like the past ones. Sure, Korra can be a really rude jerk, but I find it interesting about her. She isn't a "the-Smurfette/damsel-in-distress that partially exists to fall in love with male lead" type of character, which is what worries me about some female leads in shows. (Kinda hard to explain, I guess).
I really think that messed up LoK was the love-triangle/romance side plot. I am happy that this doesn't seem to be much of an issue with Season 3, but I do expect that (spoiler warning, just in case)

Korra and Mako will end up back together. It just kinda seems like "fate" to me. On that note, I do hope Bolin ends up with Eska LOL.

I do recommend season 3, though. It is much better than Season 2 so far, and I find it neat one of the villians is an arm-less water bender that kicks a lot of butt.

Oh I totally understood what you meant about Korra, no worries!   She does seem to be a bit more "calmer" now than she was in season one and two. Hopefully it lasts for quite some time this season.

Iroh was actually in a Season 2 episode, IIRC. He talked to Korra in the spirit world for a short time.

But I do understand what you mean.

Is it bad that a part of me wants to know "Who did Sokka end up with?" I wanna know if he got with Suki or Toph! xD I refuse to believe he stayed single.

Korra isn't quite as incredible as Avatar: The Last Airbender was, but it's still a beautiful show! It's disappointing to see that Nickelodeon didn't know how to handle it. I think that the show plays to a demographic that Nick doesn't understand or much care about. Most of us are past that age where we get allowances and have disposable income, and a good number of us tune in via streaming instead of through channels that the network can actually track.

I feel like the show could really thrive on Netflix or Hulu. These entities might give the creators the freedom that they need to bring this whole thing back to where A:TLA was, in terms of brilliance.

I'm interested to hear what they say at the SDCC panel!

Looks like TMNT will be the only thing I watch on Nick now.
At least going by what one of the show creators said earlier today, LoK isn't cancelled ( IIRC season 4 was announced some weeks back?) but it's still a shame that this all happened.

So I wouldn't say "none of us seem to be grasping that".

I think most of us are aware that we'll be getting the rest of Book 3. Nick moving it over to streaming isn't a terribly good sign, however! I am still worried that Book 4 either won't happen or will be significantly shortened.

While there doesn't seem to be mention of Book 4, Koneitzko and DiMartino shared a little perspective:

It’s a part of this huge sea change in the whole industry. We’re seeing digital streaming doing their own content and doing their own thing. Things have changed just for us from when we did Avatar. When Book One of Korra came out, its online presence was insane. Not only the chatter, but the actual numbers in terms of digital downloads and streaming–it’s just been huge. By the time we got to Book Two, the numbers of digital streaming, they greatly outweighed what happened on the channel. Nickelodeon has had a hard time to fit it into their programming. The Book Two finale had insane numbers when it streamed online–it was the biggest number they had all year. It’s just part of this shift. It definitely caught us by surprise. The important thing is the show is NOT cancelled!

To close out the panel, they gave one last sneak peek and lamented that “this will probably be the last big Korra panel” according to Konietzko.

Book 4 indeed is still going on. Saw a topic on AvatarSpirit (A:TLB/LoK mega fan site)'s forums about the SDCC panel and it was mentioned that they are almost done animating Book 4.
