Question about So Softs
« on: July 16, 2014, 02:12:59 PM »
So today I received a box of ponies, including Bangles, who was placed very high on my want list. SCORE!

I was a little surprised handling her for the first time though. Her flocking felt a little different to what I'm used to... All of my other So Softs have nice, fluffy fuzzies. Though some of them have bald spots or patches of thinning, I've got a good idea of what thickness a So Soft should be.

Bangles's flocking is very lovely with very little loss, but it feels like a shorter length than the rest. It's closer to the feel of a peach, rather than the thick velvet of my others. I'm just wondering if this is a thing that all of the So Softs from the second set have? Because it's not like she's lost any of her flocking, just that it has a thinner texture if that makes sense?

Maybe it's just a factory error?

All of my second set so softs (say that five times fast) have shorter fur. I think it's just their thing!

Yup, I concur! I don't have a wealth of experience with so softs, but I have already come to the conclusion that the second set has different flocking. I have three from the second set now - Bangles, Crumpet and now Taffy, and each have the same kind of flocking - shorter and velvetyier than the first set  :)

.... I like...  :lookround:

*nods* Thats normal for the second set of so softs :) There was clearly a change in flocking type/style/process between the sets. Its how you can tell if your Hippity Hop is from the first or second set!
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Hmm, that's very interesting, and I never would have expected it at all!

I still like the feel of the peach-fuzz, just that it was very surprising since I've been used to lots and lots of So Soft fluff.

Petition to distinguish between the first and second sets by calling the second set "Not As Softs."

Thats cool, something I never noticed.. I only have Twilight from the second set and I guess I just thought her velvety-ness was just in my mind because I think she is more glam than my other So softs...
