Can hair stains be sunfaded? w/ pics
« on: July 06, 2014, 02:30:50 PM »
I think I found an upgrade for my Mirror Mirror, her only flaw is this stain in her mane. I tried whitening toothpaste, oxiclean, dawn, and general shampoo and conditioners. I even tried a spray-on stain remover but I don't think the color's budged. I'm going to try to sun fade it... if the stain fades but so does the hair, I suppose it's no worse than dark brown stains on normal hair... thoughts? Will it work?

I've sunfaded mildew stains out of hair without really fading the hair itself, but whatever that is on your pony, I'm not so sure it will work. Probably can't hurt to try since as you point out, a faded spot might not really be any worse than a brown one.

I'd say give sun fading a whirl. That almost looks like faded marker or sharpie...

Is it Rust? You may try lemon juice soak or just the powder rust remover..coulden't hurt even if it's not rust.

Gross. Here's hoping you manage to remove it successfully.

I agree that its worth a shot...anything is. Unfortunately however its probably that the hair has taken the stain like an actual dye which means the colour underneath is probably no longer the original colour and you over time its possibly just going to bleach out [and the lighter colour will probably bleach first].

Good luck; I do hope it works for you :)

that looks like rust from a hair tie or something? you may want to try a rust remover or something? I don't think that it's dye.

If she's an upgrage and it's only a body upgrade, you could swap the head of your exhisting MM on to this body if it's a better quality one? Haha ^_^

I have had great results with Resolve stain remover. I usually get the hair wet, spray it and then rub the part that's stained between my fingertips. I have used it on tail rust but not sure what that stain is. I have never tried surfacing hair cause that makes me nervous. :)

Thanks, sparkleset.  I was just looking at your sale page! Your ponies all look very yummy! What state are you moving to?

I will try resolve! I've had her in the sun for about five days and it may or may not be lighter. Can't swap heads... the bodies are different shades!
