Creatively - What music motivates you?

I've been drawing comics since the early 90's but in mid & late that decade I did tons of home made comic books while mainly listening to a Baltimore / Washington rock radio station. Now every time I hear certain 90's rock and certain classic rock it spurs me into itching to pencil - ink - color comics. Does any one else here have the Pavlov's Dog effect on their creatively over certain types of music?

Surprisingly I rarely listen to music when I'm working on something creative.
Mainly alternative and classic rock get me going for housework and other things that I don't necessarily want to do.

Aside from dance choreography, I don't often draw inspiration from music while doing something creative.

As for general motivation, that depends on my mood, but it's usually rock, Celtic, or folk.

Depends.  I listen to so many different things.  I like Amethystium when I write, Sonic the Hedgehog when I work out, Deep Forest/Delerium/Conjure One when I paint, Steve Nicks all the time, enya when I sleep, etc.  But TV when I sew, definitely.  Preferably something stupid, like Cops or Bar Rescue. 

I have had the soundtrack for the original Spyro the Dragon going nonstop this week.

I listen to all types of music but lately its been either edgy rock or dramatic yet pretty game music that paints pictures for me

Yeah, I get whole ideas from songs! Some of them that do it are Bon Jovi's 'Dead or Alive',  Chris Daughtry's 'Waiting for Superman' and Imagine Dragons' 'Radioactive' plus Fallout Boy's 'Light 'em Up'. These have all 'spawned' at least one or two pieces on paper and more in my mind.

It depends, my playlist is all over the place. My music dictates pretty much the whole piece. If I know what mood I'm going for I pick a song that fits it, otherwise I just let the music take me.

Final Fantasy X orchestrals, Japanese broadway, Owl City, the soundtrack from Spirit, even Indian electronic dance music. Every piece has at least one song behind it.

Normally I listen to the Beatles when I am writing or drawing.  Their music really helps put me "in the zone".  I think this is partially because I am so familiar with the songs that I don't have to focus on the music and I can just kind of work from it without thinking, if that makes sense.  Or I'll put on my big classic rock playlist that is pretty eclectic but serves the same function.

Occasionally, I will play a J-Pop playlist or J-Rock playlist instead.  It depends on my mood and what I am working on.

I do most of my writing to movie and videogame soundtracks. Nothing with lyrics.

Depends on what I'm doing. If it's drawing or coloring then it's something from Hans Zimmer,John Powell, or Steven Joblanski. Basket work or knitting warrants Robbie Robbertson,Lord Of The Rings soundtracks.

House or yard work is anything country (no twang please) or classic rock. My iPod is always with me. Even running errands I have certain things I listen to (if I'm going via foot or public transit).

I get a ton of writing done to dubstep, trance, electronic and house mix. If I need to really think hard, I put on classical or chill music and it gets the job done.

I don't think it has to be any certain type of music.  I just put on whatever I'm in the mood for at the time.  I like a huge variety of music, so it could by anything from We the Kings to Mumford & Sons, to Mindless Self Indulgence to Mushroomhead, or HIM to Owl City.  The options are almost endless, just not really much country or rap.

I don't usually listen to music with English lyrics when I'm writing- anime soundtracks, Strauss or Classical Guitar is usually what I go for, depending on what I'm working on. 

When I do customs I like to bring them out into the living room and work on them while my husband plays video games or while I watch TV- Project Runway or something not too distracting.  When I'm painting- Ani Difranco, Hey Ocean, Save Ferris, Jewel, 80's pop, it just depends on my mood at the time.  I usually put a Pandora station on if I'm not looking for something too specific.

I'm a writer.  My bestie sends me weird pictures of celebrities that i like with motivational quotes or just things like- are you writing? You should be writing. Write something. ect.
