etsy buyer no longer exists?

I had someone buy a pony and said they would pay by money order, a week and a half goes by and nothing so I try to contact them but etsy says they no longer exist. I'm new to etsy so how do they do that and what recourse do I have on my fees and stuff?

On etsy you just need to cancel the transaction. So go to "Sold Orders" >> "Receipt" >> "Cancel Transaction"; you will be able to detail the why of the cancellation there. I think it takes about 48 hours for etsy to give you back your fees.
