Need help with G4 customising - alicorn rehairing!
« on: June 24, 2014, 10:51:02 AM »
I'm currently trying to make a G4 Princess Luna more show-accurate my making her less purple. I dyed her last night and she took the dye ok, she's a nice shade of dark navy now, not too far off her show colours

as you can see, the dye also gave her goth black hair, since she was in it for so long  but my issue is that I have no idea how to get inside to rehair her without completely messing up her wings. All the other times I've removed alicorn wings they've been a mess afterwards. Does anyone have any tips for removing them but not ruining them, so I can reattach them later?

I use an exacto blade very carefully cut around them deep, and pull, there will be a messy glue area inside, you can do the same to remove that, or drill if you have one. I have successfully done a couple this way. Goodluck an watch your fingers.

Just shove her new tail into the hole if you wanna be really lazy and not touch the wings at all. I know everyone is gonna say how wrong and terrible my idea is, but eh.
When the Equestria Girls dolls show up in stores and you end up with unneeded doubles, PM me! I'll buy them!/i]

I have done this too, for ponies that are just going to sit on my shelf. G4s are so horrible to custom with all their neckplugs and wings, I always end up cutting the plastic.

Yep, I've done that before with the princess ponies and once with a rainbow dash. For princess ponies I cut the old tail as short as possible, scraped out some left over hair, put a little hot glue on the new tail and stuck it in there. As long as you do the hot glue right and don't pull on it too much, it works fine and is a lot less work.

Okay, I have never customized an alicorn.
Now I have to take one apart to see... It's not the same as a regular pony?

NO its horrible, the plastic is sooo well adhered to the body, its annoying! It works out ok if you have a drill and once you cut the wings off, drill the plastic crap out an remove the tail. Hard work. And a lot of swearing. well that was my experience anyways, lol

I suggest just cutting off the tail, pushing it in, then like, super gluing the new tail along the hole so it stays.
