I just think the black one is a custom because you can see the purple (I think that was the colour) in the neck seam, hair sticking to it, and it even looks like you can see a hint of purple near the ears just barely peeking through the black paint.

I do love the glitter ones though, very pretty.

ok so dont throw  fakies at me..   but heres what i think.

i think the fluffy one may be a custom.  becuase   if anyone looks  hard enough you cna see the box  isnt sealed.  it'sopen  so it wouldnt be too hard  for soemone to save the box. and   do that and then put her back in the box. and  say it's a 'prototype" and try to get a lot of money for them.    in my opionion its   just a scam  or  fakes for someone who wants money. and wasnt it  already revealed that soem of the factorys   make  extras and stuff  so that people can sell them and make   money.

kind of reminds me  of the    ones   that you switch the heads  from one pony to the otehr and  say it's a  "prototype" or a variant.. or  a diffenretly colored  hair one.  or one thats a "blank flank"  all of these..  things can    be altered  by anyone with the skills.

with all the negativity said  now  i do LOVE  that    reisn/ clear fluttershy. but..  again    theres soemoen   here on teh arena that has the abitly to make those.. so it again wouldnt be that hard   to   make those as well.

Oooh, these are neat! Fake or not I really want some of them.  :P

I think the flowery-plastic ones are interesting, although they could try to reduce the warping on them. And I would love seeing a metallic black pony!

The thing that puzzles me about the customs idea is that these listings were astonishingly poorly done. One photo apiece, most of them not even named "My Little Pony," and from a seller who hadn't touched eBay for about a year (and before that, more like a decade). And the seller isn't MLP-focused either; they list "prototypes" for Littlest Pet Shop and Hot Wheels and other things I am utterly unequipped to judge the veracities of.

Making those snowglobe ponies would take a lot of work, and if someone made them on their own in order to get a lot of money, I'd expect significantly more effort to be put into selling them...

They look like prototypes to me.  The ones that have their eyes and symbols are correctly done to match ponies coming out. Only the plastic is weird. I wonder if these are all test runs for the rainbow line.  I don't know why they would use translucent material then make them solid, but maybe they rejected the idea of it.  The glittery ones could be test runs for the snow globes. Maybe they wanted to put glitter in them at first but for whatever reason it wasn't working and so they went with the watery ponies instead.

The metallic pony might be a hint at what's coming for the fair...a dark pony!

The furry Twi looks like a wooly bear caterpillar. If it's a custom, how did they do that??

Maybe a worker was testing wool for another toy but used Twilight as a base because they could?

I don't think the gross "fuzzy" one is a production sample, for MLP or any toy line- because why would they pry a twilight out of her package, attach the fur, and then stuff her back in? Just so weird.

I don't know if it is just because Taobao has become SO much more accessible to so many Westerners now (through agents or direct purchasing)- but there seems to be WAY more re-cast fake items, and they are looking better and better -

Like those recent fake G4 brushables that are so high quality and flawless that they looked like legit ponies when they aren't... and there are so many now...

It is definitely making it a LOT more difficult to decide whether something is a re-cast or a legitimate prototype or sample run...

But seriously- that fuzzy Twilight, I like some weirdo ponies but that is really really not cute!!!

Is there any way to know for sure?  No one questions the "tropical pinkie" we've seen before and the pinkie here looks the same. Plus the hair colors look spot on.  And why would you not hair some of them?  I think being hairless and eyeless is an odd choice.
