POTD 6/14/2014 Moondancer

She is my third favorite pony, behind only Munchy and Bowtie.

She reminds me of wine.

I had her when I was little. Still searching for her, I got her twins at home!

Classic MLP.  I have her and love her.  Such a pretty gal.

I love her colours and design but agree about the pose. Her eyes are at a weird angle and she has no middle section to her body. Very odd looking. However there are compromises throughout G1 for me and that is the price for such creativity and variation in my view - with so much to choose from, not everything is going to be dead perfect. She has her place in my herd with her sad faced baby and Sunbeam too.

I think she has a gorgeous design! I will agree that her pose isn't the most appealing, but that wouldn't stop me from wanting one.

She's a classic! Her hair color is just to die for! I have her as well, but I kind of hate her pose. Sorry Moondancer. :/

I LOVE Moondancer (as you can tell from my avatar.)  Baby Moondancer was my first pony, but when I saw "Rescue at Midnight Castle" I thought Moondancer was the same character, so she quickly became my favorite adult pony. I love her solid hair color (along with Glory and Gusty, who I display with her)- I feel there wasn't enough of that in the original line (or any of the later ones, for that matter.) Even her odd pose is relatively unique, and marks her as from an early year when they were still experimenting- the more "successful" poses started to get overused, in my opinion. (Especially the Surprise pose. It's one of the reasons I made a point to hunt down the original Firefly even though I already had the movie one.)  I was overjoyed last summer when I found Moondancer at thrift, even though she was in rough shape- the moon was missing on one side and faded on the other, and she was discolored, but I was happy to have her. A couple of weeks ago at the flea market I pulled a dirty but fully glittered one out of a box and decided to take a chance- she cleaned up beautifully, looking and even feeling like a brand new pony just out of the package. The only odd thing about her is that she has very subdued blush- not the full color like my first one (the one in my picture.) I don't know if this was variable between individual ponies or not.

I like the pose, except the proportion of the body seems a bit off and the face, especially the display side, looks a bit deformed like the eye is placed at a wrong angle. I wish she were slightly better made. lol
