Given a new life... Lati Yellow Belle

I did a fabulous trade with our very own Hina Ichigo for a Lati Yellow Pirate Belle.

When she arrived I absolutely did not care for her. I wasn't sure exactly what it was but she clashed so badly with my Pukifee. Her tan was this off shade of orange and well her face up was simply so angry. I decided I had made a mistake and that maybe the best bet was to find her a new home. I wrapped her carefully in bubble wrap and stuck her up for sale.

But somehow I kept going back and looking at the little bundle of bubble wrap. She was so sad. So lost. So completely without a home. So last night I unwrapped her and started redressing and rewigging her. Trying to find her "look". But it simply wasn't happening. I gave a great big sigh and decided to turn in for the night. Since I wasn't sleeping (yay for newborns!) I started surfing Flickr looking at different Belles. And I realized something. I liked her sculpt. I actually liked it a lot. I began to dive deeper into pictures and looking at customs I realized that her tan was actually quite rich. If it was accented properly. So I slept on an idea and this morning I pulled out the supplies and started wiping her factory face up. Normally with my BJD I don't touch factory paint. It's painted that way for a reason. But with no offers and the awful guilty feeling I had of the poor girl once again not having a home what could be lost?

I still have some work to do on  her eyebrows. But she has a full new face up in pastels and colored pencils, new blush, eyelashes and lips. As well she was unstrung and her entire body was given a couple coats of MSC which really mellowed out the orange of her tan and gave her a much softer appearance. She's going to be keeping the red wig. Don't tell my Ante but I think I'm falling just a bit for her little grump face. She's like a Dal Lati Oh, and she says her name is Bella, not Belle.
