PFFFT OOOPPSS now with a picture

I had a Best Wishes with marks all over her from the recent lot that came in, and I decided I wanted to get the marks out. So I filled my sink with hot water and some dish soap, took her apart -she also had tail rust-  stuck her in to soak for a little. Got distracted and she ended up sitting for half an hour in the still hot water and soap..went to light wipe off marks and OFF went her flocking.

..I'm going to show pictures once she's dry but I ended up completely deflocking  her, because it was manky anyways. I need to get the rest of the glue off though so she's not sticky.

wasn't my intention to deflock but at least now i know i don't have to go the smelly chemical route if i wanna deflock. and I still love how she looks

lol yup, reallly hot water a little dish soap and a dish sponge with scrubber  and old toothbrush for detail areas was all that i used. soak pony scrub. soak scrub. also there's a little divot near her tail plug  huh.

Just curious.....What brand of dish soap was it?  Was it still sticky after you got the flocking off?  Or did you manage to get that off?

Cool!  I have a couple that I want to try deflocking , may have to try it!

Nice! I've done that with one or two really manky So Softs before now. I've also heard that putting them in a pillowcase, and then in the washing machine on warm-gentle seems to work.

She looks great! LOL! I actually really like her deflocked.

Unfortunately thats the reason most people say surface wash, tepid water and toothpaste/baking soda in a small amount The glue on SSs can be stubborn [usually if you want to remove it] or weak [usually when you want it to stay] - there really is no telling!

So true! Kind of like Sod's Law. I'm just trying to finish Twilight, Lofty, Paradise, Bouncy, Hippity Hop  Need to go to B&Q and get sugar soap and paint stripper as you recommended. Anyone know if the 'eco friendly' non solvent stuff is any good? WOuld be too good to be true really. I might have to get both and try it.

Nice work Kestrel! I wasn't sure about Best Wishes when I first deflocked her but she looks amazing in my display cabinet. my eye is always drawn to her 

Edit: Have you thought of boiling her curls back in?

she actually has very little hair, her tail didn't survive the bath and her hair as my sister said would be perfect for a mohawk  style. I'm actually really thinking about rehairing her as my first rehair but I need to get the tools for it first

I agree she'd make a great re-hair candidate since that yellow isn't the first choice I'd have thought of. Look forward to seeing what you come up with
