Tuneful or Tunefull?
« on: May 31, 2014, 01:19:10 PM »
So most places refer to this Rockin' Beat pony as Tuneful.

However the backcard for the Rockin' Beat ponies calls her Tunefull.

Is there any other official material with the Rockin' Beat ponies' names on them that uses the first name, or any name for that matter, or is the first name just a long perpetuated typo?

This may be entirely off the mark, but I'm actually going to wager that the backcard is incorrect. "Tuneful" means being melodious, as "grateful" means to have gracious feelings. "Tunefull" may have been purposefully mispelled so it seemed like it meant "Full of tunes", lol, but I don't think it makes any sense. Also, "tunefull" is not a word, only "tuneful" is.

My first instinct has always been to spell her name Tunefull (and I'm usually a good speller). But she must be Hasrro/grammatically  accurate so I spell it the other way...

Hmm... I wonder if the UK card has her as Tuneful and the US as Tunefull? Can't remember.

I've wondered this in the past, as well! Even though I've seen it's spelled Tunefull on her card (I now have her moc, yay!) it seems odd to me and I spell it Tuneful anyway.

Normally I'm a stickler for spelling pony names exactly as they're spelt on their backcards (i.e. writing Lickety-Split and Bow-Tie's names with the dashes/hyphens, or spelling G3 Marshmellow Coco's name as.. well, "Marshmellow Coco" and not, say, "Marshmallow Cocoa"), but I just.. can't spell Tuneful's name as "Tunefull". XD "Tunefull" is not a word, "Tuneful" is! I know, I prolly sound like a hypocrite, but still.. X'D;

I just checked the comic they're introduced in and in that it's "Tuneful."

That said, I don't think Tunefull is a typo, per se.  As in, I don't think someone accidentally hit the L key twice.  I think it was deliberate, for whatever reason.

Sort of the like the G4 pony is Cadance, rather than Cadence.

I've always said TunefuL with one L. Tunefull is not a word, and I'm slightly annoyed every time I see someone spelling it like that :P (but I guess it's a play on words with the backcrd)

There are plenty of ponies who have names which are not actual words, so I dont think its that odd if she is Tunefull rather than Tuneful.

She actually has her name spelled both ways. In the US - catalogues and sales listings and materials - call her Tunefull; over here [in English] she got changed to Tuneful. Similarly here we gained a "g" on the set name - Rocking Beat to the US's Rockin Beat.

Its not unheard of for pony names to cross the ocean and change although normally they are not as subtle as a single letter. :)

Interesting! I usually accept whatever spelling is on the backcard to be official, but if a pony has a country variation then I pick whichever I like more. In this case, I like Tuneful! That's just me, though.

Neat comic!  I love the fact that they made Tuneful an unicorn there and not an earthling like in the backcard and the comic  :cool:

LOL the guitar-frying pan is hilarious  :lol:
