Midwest Brony Fest Kansas City results

 Well putting aside my accident that ruined the entire weekend for me, Midwest Brony Fest went pretty good. Saturday (wore  my fall formal Shining Armor cosplay for this day). Started with Electricalenginerd's tesla coil concert, unfortunately something happened to it a couple of songs in, and he had to show videos instead (example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDhjD6URpGc ). After that I watched Greggo Game Show's pony Jeopardy, then attended a panel where someone taking on the role of  Cheese Sandwich showed how to do parties (glad I stood in the back. It was a regular Gallagher show with confetti, glitter, and silly string ).
 
 About this time the signup for the cosplay contest started, and I went ahead and signed up. Then it was time for SolraCON, AKA Solrac's (a brony who became popular with his videos of him screaming MLP songs) ear splitting panel, followed by the big one: Peter New (Big Mac) and Kelly Metzger (Spitfire)'s panel. Got the whole thing on video. It opened up with dialogue between them and had a lot of funny moments. During the questions someone asked Peter if he could draw Mac's cutie mark. After getting a piece of paper he did, and it was passed around. Then one guy asked Kelly about coming up with her own lines for Wonderbolt  Academy, and if she could do a drill sgt. one, at which point she marched over to him yelling in Spitfire's voice, and made him drop and give her twenty! 

 Then I floated around to various panels until the Military bronies one. During that they played 4 videos, one used Danger Zone and featured aircraft related art, including 2 of mine!  Staying for that panel made me a little late for the cosplay contest, but I still got in. Didn't win anything but the contest (and the con overall) had some excelent cosplays, including a beautiful  Celestia  one (won 1st place), a Mexican version of a "creeper" (later a Unicreeper with the addition of a horn) from Minecraft (had a sombreo and poncho. Won "fan favorite"), an equally as beautiful  Luna , an actual  Nurse Redheart , Daring Do, a filly (literally) Twilight that caused some heart problems in the crowd , Sweetie Belle and Applebloom (again actual kids), a mom and daughter Granny Smith/EqG Applejack duo, Sombra, Slenderman (who got his groove on), Deadpool, Anna (non pony related cosplays often pop up), beatnik Rarity, Octavias (male and female), Cranky, Discord...

Pinkie Pyro (ponified Team Fortress 2 character).
When he first showed up at the con, it was an instant riot. He was also a winner in the contest. One guy showed up as a member of the New Lunar Republic military (dad to the filly Twilight. Plus her mom went as Fluttershy), and another as a Solar Empire soldier. At the same time Pyro showed up a little shouting match erupted between them. After the end of the contest a liiiitle war happened between them, and the Celestia and Luna cosplayers.   
Besides Cheese Sandwich, I was hoping for more S4 cosplayers to show up (especially Flutterbat). Finally  in the afternoon not one but 2  Mauds  showed up. One had the spiked helmet, and was with a Pinkie that had a shoulder fired party cannon.

 After that I went to the autograph session for the VA's, and then stayed at the rave (DJ'd by a brony music group) for about an hour before heading to my motel (raves aren't my thing, but I thought I'd check out the music a bit).

Day 2....    , It made me miss 2 hours of the con (1 hour for the accident, and another driving around trying to find the hotel again after I missed the turn), but I still showed up in my NLR Air Force costume ( http://lonewolf3878.deviantart.com/art/New-Lunar-Republic-Air-Force-Flight-Suit-444732746 ), and with nothing going on settled in the vendor room for a bit (showing off my NLR themed aircraft and Zoids). I got up and headed for the main room for the charity auction (which would benefit Child's Play at one of Kansas City's hospitals), only to discover Electricalenginerd had gotten his Tesla coil working, and I caught the end of the performance.
 I put a Wonderbolt F-22 model I made in the auction http://lonewolf3878.deviantart.com/art/Wonderbolts-F22-model-sold-453121010 , and wanted to see how it would do.

 Before they got to it, they had a signed  piece of Big Mac art up for grabs. When bidding stopped at $30, suddenly Peter New came marching in and took over taking bids, almost turning it into a riot. It wound up going for $150. Then he did the same for a Mac chibi plushie, going as far as to run around the room a couple of times and kissing it to get more bids. It went for $135. Both of them wandered around exploring it including the vendor's hall. Kelly also took part in a "Workout with the Wonderbolts" excercise panel set up by the military bronies).

 Then my F-22 came up. After a slow start, bidding jumped up, and after I threw in some NLR related stickers I made, it went for $135 to a military brony who was an aircraft tech. (and as I was writing this he commented on my DA journal about the con)    Double what my drawing went for last year.
 That wasn't the only thing that doubled. This time the auction raked in over 3,000 DOLLARS for Childs Play.
 After the closing ceremonies I went out, tried to fix my fender a bit, and went home.

The silkscreen banner came from Drawponies, and included a free poster (I picked a Maud one).

I didn't get any pic's of my cosplays there, bit I'm watching for a video of the cosplay contest to come up somewhere.

Yeah. The first day was the best one. There was one panel I missed out on because it happened at the same time as the VA panel. Amelie Belcher had one on how to collect ponies (all generations). On MWBF's site they even mentioned "pony cancer" in the description: http://www.mwbfkc.net/schedule.html

It sounds like you had an awesome time!  A lot of our Cosplay members don't visit the Brag forum very often so I thought you'd get more attention in the Pony Corral
