Are all the G1 male ponies so expensive?
« on: May 05, 2014, 05:34:06 AM »
I really love the look of the male G1 ponies and I'd love to have one, but it seems they're all highly sought after and go for really high prices. Are there any that aren't so expensive?

I guess it depends on what is considered expensive, but a lot of them, without their accessories, are in the $10-$15 range.  Tux N Tails, Mountain Boys, and the boys that have their accessories are more expensive, but there are lots of people here selling just the boys by themselves for much less.  The same thing goes for the baby brothers.

Happy pony hunting!

I guess you either have to be lucky to find a bargin or not be too fussed about the accessories. I personally don't go out of my way to collect the accessories so I don't mind picking up one of the boys with out his hat ect, I just want to have the pony in good condition.
I've got daddy apple delight, steamer and tex so far and I think they are all so gorgeous! I was actually lucky to find Tex, he was at a carboot for 50p and he had his hat! (Happy he has his hat tho because it covers up his forelock trim, oooops!)

So I'm sending you pony luck and wishes to find your own pony boy for a good price! :good:
802 and counting........

I'm not too fussed about accessories so shouldn't be too much of a problem there I suppose. Thank you both  ^.^

You really have to shop around sometimes. I have seen ponies listed for crazy high prices and some that are listed with an awesome price! :)

Yeah, I find it funny how high some people price things. I've seen a pony I have listed at like £20 when I bought it for about £1.50 XD

If you are price checking on ebay, make sure you look at completed listings, and not what people are trying to sell for.  Sometimes people will ask crazy prices just to see if anyone bites.  The best place to look might be in the sales threads here =)

A lot of them are, yes :) They are easily one of the most popular types of pony. However there are a few who should not terrify you too much in price. And, as others have said, as long as you dont want the accessories that makes a big difference. Daddies Apple Delight, Sweet Celebrations and Bright Bouquet are normally the lowest price of BBs. And Salty, Tex and sometimes Steamer are perhaps the least expensive of the other sets. If you focus on those guys you will manage to find some within a reasonable budget.

Good luck in the hunt!
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Tex is one I'm particularly fond of so if he isn't too pricey I expect he'll be my first one. Thank you though, I'll look at some of the others you suggested to  :)

I think quality matters too. You can get them for less but they may have more problems. Mint/really good condition can be expensive (IMO).

Last weekend I found Salty and Chief at a toy show. They were each about $8.00 and in good-excellent condition (no acc). I already have them, but I thought about getting them for trade. I decided to kindly leave them for a local My Little Pony Girl to discover. I hope one day my pony karma will come back!
