Help with G1 Quackers pose ponies
« on: April 20, 2014, 02:11:46 AM »
Hey I have come across a few G1 ponies in the Quackers poses that are either really wobbly on their feet or won't stand unaided.  :(

Anyone got any tips on how to make these ponies more stable and be able to stand?

Sometimes putting a pencil between the hooves and leaving it for a month or so seems to help :)

Boil them and reposition. Running them under cold water helps it go faster but cooklng naturally is fine for the patient.

As mentioned unfortunately you need to essentially reset the plastic. Its simply that over time, usually during storage, the legs will have become pressed together and because of the position of the head that leads to a lot of head/desk moments. Boiling the body and then using something to hold the legs in the correct position [something soft like a pen wrapped in paper towels/toilet paper or bubble wrap] is the best idea. Then pop the body in the freezer for a while to set. You can also simply fill the body up with boiling water; allow it to stand and repeat several times. Normally that gets the legs back in the right position as well.

I leave mine with a  Crayola marker wrapped in toilet paper between the legs and set them on my heater vent standing up.  After a week or so, they can stand more easily, but it's always something you have to re-do, given the "tension" in the mold - it always settles back to the legs being more entwined.
