I regret trimming the frizzy ends on some of my childhood ponies, too. And selling my sister's childhood G2s ridiculously cheap, they were complete with accessories but I had just started collecting and G2s didn't seem very popular among collectors - I disliked them too and somehow got this stupid idea no-one else would like them either. :D Well, at least they found a good home and were appreciated by their new owner/s. (Before anyone wonders, I did have my sister's permission to sell them and also gave the money to her. I just wish I'd done a bit more research before jumping to selling and "fixing" my ponies... But I guess these are pretty common beginner mistakes.)

Using acetone to try and clean up my childhood CP Applejack and practically removing one of the apples from her symbols
Silly mistake!

ughh I did today, I was cleaning my brazil up up and away with a tooth brush while not paying much attention and I made a big rub through her cheek blush and rub out 1/2 a balloon symbol on each side. I am so gutted, how I wish I could turn back time

I put G4 Raritys hair in curls and tried to set it with hairspray. It didn't set the curls at all, and now her hair is dry and brittle >n<

Opening my G4 playful ponies and even cutting one of my Trixie's hair. At least now since I am opening my playful ponies I have extra room for mlre types on dolls to plaster to the walls LOL!

As a little girl I was lovely to my ponies...Barbie and Sindy did not fair so well :P They tended to get some very stylish 80s geometric hair cuts.

As a collector, right at the start of collecting I regret giving Merriweather a new tail rather than doing some more work on her old one. Still kicking myself on that one and still trying to upgrade Merriweather!
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

When I started collecting I had a very squished Lemon Drop. I didn't know there were ways of reversing this so I used her to test out some spray paint and then she went in the bin.

Two things I learnt from her is a) don't be quick to bait a pony and b) spray paint does not work on ponies.

I accidentally cleaned a magic message pony in very hot water.  She was filthy but her symbol *was* perfect - until it slid off.

10-15 years ago when I started collecting ponies as a teenager/adult I customized some of my childhood ponies  as well as some perfectly good ponies that I found at garage sales and the flea market. They were so easy to find from garage sales and cheap at the time that I didn't think anything of it.  >_<

I use magic marker, fabric paint, and nail polish to 'decorate' my favorite ponies.  Many of them got haircuts, especially my 'boys' (which were not boys because I didn't know there were actual boy ponies).  All of them got lovely black horseshoes on their feet with fabric paint, which may peel off but leaves a stain.  All got my initials on their feet.  And many got mold and other things from bath play, especially my poor poor SS Magic Star.  Ironically, I did this to my favorites, so Mimic escaped just about all of it and has a slight trim and faded symbols only.
My G3 grail is LS Pinkie Pie MIB.  If you have her for sale or trade, I WILL pay.

My OH Clare was too, not only did she keep them in pristine condition, she made her friends wash their hands before even touching them!  :snicker:

Using nail polish remover to get rid of a mark on Hair Do Starlight - her lovely sheen was also removed with it  :(

When I was little a lot of my ponies had haircuts. My Parasol had this very unique Mohawk which was three different lengths. Sounds terrible (it was) but I liked it. I got some new ponies (new to me that is) and a nice shiny new Parasol was one of them. I gave some of my existing ponies to a friend, including staggered-Mohawk Parasol. I was sad that I'd chosen to give away this uniquely-styled pony and proceeded to re-create the look on my new Parasol. It looked terrible. I regretted giving away the first one AND what I did to the second :P
