G4 head removal Question

Hey guys.  My roommate wants to customise a G4 and, while I've pulled plenty of pony heads off in my restoration projects, I've never had to do this with a G4.  The one she has is a little brushable Rarity.  I'm accustomed to using a hair drier to soften the plastic.  Will this work with a G4 or should she plan on cutting through the plastic and gluing later?

Boil her. That should make her nice and pliable. But the neck plug will require cutting.

I've always had to cut it out, but I've never tried heating them very long. The plug is rather deep, so I don't think that method would work.

Careful when pulling the head off, if the Rarity is a newer release (avoid too much pulling to one side). I've had a plug break recently from a newer Twilight and have noticed the same plastic change with the new Rarities.
