PC: Near mint Ice Crystal
« on: April 11, 2014, 10:37:28 AM »
I have a near mint condition Ice Crystal. Only flaw is a scuff/smudge to his NDS symbol, as well as a brown stripe-mark I cannot seem to get away on his NDS shoulder.

No cancer and no regrind. Hair is perfect, silky and uncut.

I've seen him sell anywhere between 80-130 (some bad condition ones will sell lower though)but there was one really minty one on eBay with his brush recently that sold for 150 but it was with free shipping so maybe that had something to do with it? I don't know if his brush adds much to the price. I agree with party pony though about the 100-130 range for him he has always seemed to be the most popular mountain boy

I noticed this before but didn't really think it was anything, but decided to check it up and yeah, it's really odd so I thought I'd better show you guys.

Some of the strands in eye crystals hair have some long, and some short hairs. In three strands, they are all shorter except for one of those three which has ONE SINGLE long hair.

Here are pictures of the phenomenon. It seems odd a kid would cut THREE whole strands, and just a few hairs on the others around them, so I have no idea - the ones that have booth long and short could be just broken hairs, but the three other strands.... with the third having ONE long hair... It's just odd.

Got a comment from someone that is might be a factory error

"I'm guessing it's hair that went into the hairing machine in the factory a bit crooked and so some came out short. Wouldn't affect price for me as it's not a haircut as such."

WOW. *Ahem* I think you should sell him to me for $2. Please? No? Okay. HAHAHAHA JKJK

I would say $90-120 range? And I would still be interested even if youre not selling for $2! Do let me know! :D

Not so much factory error as just a defect which happened during production. You find all manner of things like that with MLP.

If he is absolutely minty then I would go with the $110 mark for him. However he is terribly prone to age marks and that little brown dot along with the shadow on his shoulder would maybe worry me a little. So I would drop him more to the $90 mark.

what brown dot? there is none. The only thing he has is the 'shadow' (brown line) on his shoulder

unless the brown dot you meant is the line I was talking about on his shoulder... please do copy the picture and mark what you mean with shadow

Anything light brown you can't remove from a pony tends to be an age mark... which are incurable and untreatable.  Since his hair looks fine, I would agree with Hathorcat for a value.

The brown mark I mean is the line/dot right in the centre of this picture - http://s1097.photobucket.com/user/WinterSparkles/media/Ice%20Crystal/IMG_1365_zps7d561bb5.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3

However from the top of the picture running diagonally down and to the right he has a shadow on the plastic. Its really faint and it may just be caused by someone cleaning him in the past a little too aggressively. Someone would be really picky to have a major problem with it hence why I was only dropping him a little in price. But he is so prone to age marks that bruising under the plastic is always worth keeping an eye on.

you mean the white 'glare'? that's just from the sun I believe. I can check him again and take a new picture

Post Merge: April 13, 2014, 05:48:51 AM

or do you mean the "patch" of darkness around the dot?

Post Merge: April 13, 2014, 05:52:36 AM

both of them are just shadows from the sun/lighting I have looked and looked on the actual pony and I really can't see anything in any direction or position

The brown mark itself is an age spot. Those can spread

If its just glare which is giving that impression then that's great :) It just looks on the picture like something I have seen before but its sooo hard to tell for certain from images so as you say no doubt its just reflection. Its just really the one little age mark which is his problem then on his body :)
