I opened up the thread and my first thought was... 'That isn't a dog'.  :lookround:

Okay, now I'm reading things in the right context I have to agree that is the creepiest dog toy I've ever seen!

Oh my!!!!!!!! I am sure it could happily be de-squeaked and de-stuffed in my house but I dont think I would allow it in in the first place. Even worse than the fish skeleton toy my puppy adored when he was a baby.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

But baby possums are cute, aren't they? Though I agree that toy is hideous.

Awwww-  that is so cute!

That pic of the scary plastic possum in front of the fire though!!! :drunk:

Actually, possums are not attractive critters, but they are actually quite sweet.  They LOOK scary because when they are scared they open their mouths and hiss (seriously they look like monsters) but despite this display, they are not aggressive at all.  Over the years, my family has rescued a few possum babies that fell off their mum's backs.  People think they are rats but they are not, and because they aren't mammals, don't carry rabies or other scary things.

Here's my dad with a rescue they dubbed Jabberwoky...

Actually, they are mammals (class mammalia) but they don't carry rabies because they have a lower body temperature than most other mammals.

I think they have more teeth than any other North American mammal!

They do!  50, to be precise.

I have four pet possums - Brazilian Short Tail Possums.

To my knowledge this doesn't effect the actual opossums, but through feces they spread EPM to horses. In horses amount other symptoms this cause general loss of functioning limbs.  People might say well why are hour horses eating opossum poo? Well they get into feed even in large storage tubs or can crawl into feed pans to eat leftovers then horses eat it by accident. Lots of situations where it can happen. I remember my first ridding horse from my childhood getting it and although he could walk with medication he was crippled forever. If he went to lay down the function of his back legs wasn't right and it took tractors and a sling made by the vet to scoop him up. Didn't matter had to out him down eventually anyway.  There have been a few others living where we do opossums are common even when washing out tubs and checking feed.  Living out in the country I've seen them all the time, and I've personally never had one jump at me or anything like that. They are pretty timid creatures that I've seen.  Then again my family sets traps anymore because losing livestock to them is an awful experience.

I'm only adding because they do carry scary things depending on hat animals they are exposed to.

Lol the toy is cute I would get one for my dog if I thought he would eat it.
