PC: NC Banana Surprise (needs TLC)

Hi!

I have this Banana Surprise that I got in a lot. I was going to repair it, but I really don't have the time of the will to do it. In three months I'll be having my second baby and I want to clean all my pony storage before that happens.

I don't have pics yet, but I'll post some tonight.

The body is ok, no mayor marks. The symbols could do with some paint touches. The worst is the hair. It's dry and frizz.

How much could this girl go for?

I agree you don't see the NC Spanish sundae best ponies very often. I think this is because they don't look very much different to their regular release counter parts.

I do recall a mint off card Butter Kiss sold for around $90, I think with her issues I would think around the $50 mark. However this is all a guess in the dark!

I find they are really tricky to price as they are little-known NC ponies, so few people are on the lookout.

What would be a proper hair color match for this pony?

Mermaid would be the match, however it's possible it won't be a match because she is a nirvana and often the hair will be a unique colour or texture.

I would try conditioning and straightening her hair

Yeah, they told me the same in the Custom boards. Mermaid would be the closest, but it's too blue. It might be because she is a nirvana, or maybe due to discoloration.. I don't know.

I have her here sitting around until I decide what to do. Part of me wants to give her a rehair, some paint touches and add her to my herd... another part of me is too busy to do so. Let's see who wins! ^^

Her hair does look a different shade. As you said it could be either discolouration of the fact she is nirvana.

I have recently restored a Spanish Peach Blossom and her hair seems to be the same colour of blue/green.

Yes, and I haven't found a good match between the HK ponies I have. They are either too blue or too green. I'll try to straiten her hair and see how I feel about it. ^^

Mermaid is terrible for discolouring. I have had lots of ponies over the years who should have had this colour originally but are a few shades too green to quite match. Its almost as though the shade yellows over the years.

You need to remember that dollyhair hanks are brand new and shiny out of the factory; G1 pony hair is 30ish years old, exposed to the elements, the weather and general wear and tear. Its more impressive when they are an exact match than when they are not.

In addition, as we can see with certain Nirvana hair, hair may have been sourced from a completely different location than the hair used in Hasbro's China/Hong Kong based factories. So while the colour was designed to match to a pantone/reference colour they would have been provided by Hasbro, if the hair was manufactured by a different factory than the one Hasbro would use for their China/HK made ponies then its certainly likely that hair will not quite matching in colour [or even finish and quality]. Dollyhair and the like is sourced from where the China/HK factories would have sourced their hair and not necessarily where a Spanish factory would have.
