Do people really sell original MLP tails or hair?

I've been thinking about this and I've seen one or two comments here and there that sort of hint at it, so I wondered how easy is it to actually go about finding a substitute tail or hair- assuming I bought a tailless pony and someone happened to have a spare tail from a bait, is that a common thing to happen? ^_^ I am someone who likes original hair on a pony, so if someone out there had an original tail for my pony I, think I would be quite chuffed to be able to get that

Yes they do. They often give them away as well. Check in the customs forum with the tail you need. Someone may have it.

I agree it's usually not too difficult to find a tail donor-  people customize ponies and might have extras-

For manes, there are nylon hairs you can buy through assorted vendors and re-hair yourself (check the custom forum - resources flagged near the top)

Yep, after I prep a pony for customizing I usually throw all the tails and even manes(after I've rubber banded them) into a plastic bag. Once I have quite a bit I sell it for a few bucks.

Yes, I've seen some for sale as well.
However, some of the tails are SUPER specific & difficult to find a pony who needs the tail. Like, I am STILL holding onto a Lemon Treats original Hasbro tail because no one ever has one w/o the tail.

I never toss good hair. If a tail is a nice Hasbro one, I keep it either to swap it away later or to use in a restoration. Like sometimes the mane will be all cut off, the pony will be stain/damage/scribble/whatever & the tail fine...It's time to just take the tail out & use it later.

I have a couple of tails lying around, I restore a lot of ponies, and I'd rather sell a too-far-gone bait w/out a tail and keep the tail for a future restoration of the same or a similar pony. You never know what you might find that is perfect but for the tail!

Yes. I've bought a lot of donor tails for ponies who needed them! With so many people customizing/rehairing ponies, some tails are probably easy to find, like most G1s from the first 3 years or so since those ponies are common and often baited/rehaired.

Even an old mane can be scraped together to make a tail for another pony (a short tail is better than no tail!) I personally hope no one throws G1 hair away if it can be donated!

Yup - I have bought and traded for a lot of replacement tails over the years I much prefer to do that and am even on the look out right now for one for Honeycomb

Post a wanted ad or ask over in Customs [thats where most of them tend to show up for sale]

I personally have a TON of original tails that need new... butts... lol!

I've thought many times about listing them in my online store but I never get around to it... if you're looking for something specific (any of you), ask me, seriously. They can be shipped in a regular envelope so even overseas it's pretty cheap to get tails.

The only one I need right now is Mimic.  I think I'll be waiting a while for that.
