I Googled and found that this happens with some audio drivers and many iTunes users were complaining about it. Have you tried to either rip or play it with Windows Media Player? I couldn't figure that out from your message. Also, check your settings in the preferences of iTunes. The MP3 settings particularly. Maybe they were changed.
I did read that some audio drivers can distort cds. Google your model and see if there's a fix.
