Removing the hair from a Funko?
« on: February 12, 2014, 12:03:22 PM »
Someone on Etsy wants to commission a Funko pony from me, but she wants it show-accurate, which means removing the hair and sculpting on new. Any ideas about the best way to go about that? It looks like the hair is a separate mold from the body, but I'm not at all sure how I'd get it off. Thanks!

I have seen them missing their tails and manes on occasion but I believe that was due to accidents rather than on purpose. I believe the tails and manes and [I think] wings are simply glued on. Kind of how you can take apart a blind bag mane/tail/head etc. A good anti-superglue may work or at least loosen it enough that a hair dryer and strength [as well as a set of pliers and something to wedge between the hair and the body] may work. But I would be concerned with the potential damage to the plastic with something like that. I would test it out under the hooves for a few days to see if it does anything to the colour.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Thank you! She'll need sculpting and a FBR either way, so color isn't an issue. I'll give it a try!
