Hair in Neckseam
« on: January 17, 2014, 03:04:32 AM »
I'm cleaning up a g1 Tootsie with a really bad head/body mismatch and some neck seam glue issue.  When trying to comb out her hair I noticed she has some hair seriously stuck in the glue....

So I'm wondering, is this a factory error or did someone do an awful job gluing Tootsie's head back in place?

Sorry for the gigantic cellphone pictures.... >_<

For me I'm undecided, the first picture kinda looks like you can see where someone may have cut into her but in the second picture I don't see it. That's an awful lot of hair stuck in the neck seam for a factory error, although I have heard other people say that they've seen worse.

Waiting for the experts to come in :coffee:

my guess is factory error. Its pretty frequent that hair will get stuck in there like that (although that is a lot!)
Check out my Wind Whistler when I took her apart for deflocking - I know for a fact I was the first and only person to remove her head:

My vote is factory error.  I've come across a lot of G1 ponies lately with that issue!

Ugh I hate it when that happens.  I have had plenty of MIB ponies with this problem, so I would vote factory error as well.

Not a common problem in the G1 line but it does pop up now and again.  I'd concur it's a factory issue.

I'd say a factory error. I have a sparkle pony twinkler who has the whole last two plugs actually sprouting out of her neck seam instead of the holes....doh

Very normal, very factory.  Can't tell you how many necks I have cracked to find hair all up in them.  :)

I've also had many many G1's with this issue, so I'd also venture to guess it is factory.

Yup :) I shall agree with it being factory. It pops up reasonably often-ish normally with just a single hair or two though. Unlike with later generations, G1 pony hair was only sometimes bound around the head with plastic wrap, so it must mean hair getting caught when head/body glued together was always a possibility.

I had some ponies with this issue too and I also think it's factory.
