Another question from the beginner
« on: January 13, 2014, 02:48:48 AM »
Is there an easier way to remove hair from the pony? I am going to work on a set of 5 FS G3 ponies, and they have a lot of hair to remove from their heads. I have been using very hot water, acetone, etc...still really hard for me to get the glue loose to remove the hair....this is always the point that frustrates me to no end!

Any help/suggestions?

Stomp on the head. It loosens the glue and relieves frustration. It's win-win.

I also use a flat screwdriver - just scrape the flat part along the hairline inside the head and the plugs come right out.

I heat it up with a hair dryer and used curved hemostats/forceps I bought from a hobby shop.

edit:: sorry, I missed the part about those being G3s, those things are glue city.  I'm pretty sure my method would barely leave a dent in those.

Have you tried needle nose pliers?

I have needle nose pliers (well should say my hubby has some) but they are small, and do not reach up into the head all the way...

I will have to try the bending thing to get the glue to pop! :)

yep. I use a combo of all of the above... hemostats, a screwdriver, acetone (once in a while) and pour boiling water into the head. haven't needed to stomp one yet but im sure ill have to eventually.
