Question about Flutter pony mechanisms
« on: January 06, 2014, 09:16:56 AM »
So, I have several flutter ponies that are missing their mechanisms to 1) hold the wings, and 2) make them move.  I am left with the square in the back with a hole in the middle where the little part should go, but no mechanism.  Is there somewhere I could purchase one, someone who makes them, or some other way to make it ok?  I am tempted to just put in some of the butterfly wings that some of the customers make and just use those to truss it up a bit.  I'm just afraid it won't look right.  >.<

You know, I've never heard of someone molding new ones, but that'd be a great idea!

Does the hole have a bottom to it? Like, is it just kind of an indent the device slips into, or is it a true hole where you can peer in and see the inside of the pony? I was thinking you could stick some Model Magic in there and stick some wings into that. MM would be very easy to remove for if/when you find a better solution. (But would it stain the pony?) If it's a true hole, it'd be herder to get the stuff to stay, though.
I'll put something here some time

What an odd thing to happen. Poor flutters! So you are missing the whole section - the holders for the wings and the clam button?

I havent seen anyone recasting those at all; I dont think they are something which goes missing often enough to justify it. I would think the best option is to purchase or make a set of winger style wings [which are connected together in the middle] and then a small piece of moulding clay to hold them in place and fill the hole. You could even top the clay section off with something quirky to represent the clam button like an actual clothes button. :P Sure the wings wont flap but it would be a cool little flutter.

These are all good ideas, LOL!  Here is what I'm looking at...I think the clay might by the best shot I have, though I am considering putting some swarovski crystals over the holes to make it look better.  I am thinking that the wings that are printed off the computer and installed with wire might be the best ones to use for this.

I like the idea of the crystals as decoration as well :) That would be a really nice touch!

Is it wrong seeing a pony completely stripped down like that makes me think she be standing on tiny cinder blocks.

The jewel idea sounds cool.
