Roary Lion! Full of bubble bath? help
« on: January 04, 2014, 06:49:53 AM »
So I just rescued Roary Lion from thrift!  Love him, but he's full on watery soapy water.

There's only on small hole in his tummy... And the liquid isn't coming out well.  Any suggestions!? Put him in a bag of rice? Poke holes in his feet?

Pull his head off and let it all drain. I know some people don't like unsealed heads, but it's better than having a toy full of water, and probably preferable to pinpricked feet.
I'll put something here some time

But...  Does his noggin even come off?!  Just pull? Or do I follow pony beheading protocol?

Even if you could get all the water out of him there would probably still be sludge left and would make him stinky.

Oooo, is he that Moondreamers lion?  Great find!  I hope you're able to get him mostly dried out. ^.^

I did a quick Google search on cleaning out rubber ducks (if Roary's head doesn't detach, he may be in the same sort of situation as those little quackers?) and this is what Real Simple's website suggests:

http://www.realsimple.com/magazine-more/inside-magazine/ask-real-simple/best-way-clean-bath-toys-00000000017564/

Perhaps more experienced toy restorers could suggest if this would be appropriate for a Moondreamers toy? :sheepish:

I think I'd go with the pulling the head off idea too.

*nod*  If you can pull his hed off, I think in this case it would be ideal.  Last thing you want is mold growing inside :(

I tried pulling and it didn't budge.
One site said put rubbing alcohol inside, that won't hurt the plastic will it?

Oh, whoops, I had in my head that you meant Kingsly, but got the name wrong! My bad!

In that case, no, I have no idea. :|  :lookround:

Ah, ok.  Well maybe I'll stick em in a bag of rice.  Or the alcohol idea.
