Horse Owners: Shaky Trailer!
« on: December 27, 2013, 08:59:17 AM »
Awhile back, we bought a cheap $2,000 BP trailer and fixed it up for it needed some repairs. When we went to look at it, it only shook when I jumped to see how shaky it was. Now, when I step on the step to get into the side door, it shakes like crazy. When I walk around in it it shakes like no other and squeaks really, really loud and once I even sick to my stomach when I swept it out from it shaking so bad.  I have never been in a trailer so shaky in my life.

The big question, is it safe to pull my horses with?

Wow! I don't think I'd feel safe putting horses in there, but seeing as I've never owned horses let alone a trailer, I don't have an actual answer. I hope if it isn't safe you can fix it or get a new one without much trouble.

Thanks Koaskat! I am really iffy about pulling with them in there. My dad says its fine but i am not sure about that. My horses mean the world to me.

I would definitely not risk it. If it shakes with your weight, can you imagine what a horse will do?!

Do you have a local dealer who could service it for you?

I wouldn't risk it. I'm really picky about trailers for my horses and If I can't rent or borrow a really safe, solid one (I don't own my own, yet) I'll just not take my mare to whatever event I wanted to haul her to. Get a dealer to look at it for you before you haul anywhere.

I agree with the others on here get it checked out before even boxing up sounds like there is something either wrong or about to go wrong with it.

did it feel ok when you towed it home?

eeeek   that doesn't sound good at all :(

makes me wonder if something is seriously wrong with the suspension, or worse stil, the chassis... I learnt all about stuff like that when I did my college course in motor vehicle studies waaay back in 1996 (jeepers, i'm old, lol :P ) but even with my limited knowledge that really doesn't sound good.

I agree with the others and you should def get somebody to look it over for you. and don't put your neddies in it, they might be absolutely terrified of ever being trailered around again if they get a bad experience in there :(
