My first RPGMaker game. First Phase: Spriting.
« on: December 21, 2013, 01:58:44 AM »
Here's my story...I always dreamed one of my fanfics becoming an actual game...3D graphics, voice acting, and a system the way I want...here was the setbacks.

I had to start small first in order to show my commitment. One of the things was that people hated people using existing sprites, recoloring and ripping sprites seem cheap, so I looked all around for tutorials, pointers, and stuff to start making my own sprites.

I didn't want to be that other person that used default sprites and recolored existing sprites. It just makes me feel cheap. So I threw away my effort in looking for tutorials, pointers, and recoloring sprites...

And just start doing my own. Here is my first progress on a female base. Note this was drawn with my mind and going through trial and error. I may have to fiddle a bit more with the arms...but for my first ever try, I feel proud of myself^^

Note: The arms on the top are just for reference.

Aww <3

If youre having troubles, id recommend looking at real people.  Ask some friends or family to pose for you so you can get a general idea :)

Best of luck, hun!

I've been working on a game too, though it's coming along very slowly. Creating the sprites can sometimes be the hardest part of the game, I think!
Best of luck, I hope you manage to finish it!

Thanks Sora, and good luck to you to! My advice is doing one thing each day, even if it's small^^

I got my male base done...I was fearing it was too macho or something...but I think I did okay. I also fine tuned the shoulders of the female base. I think they were a little too big.

May fine tuned the male arms a bit later on.

I'm trying this too! I'm gonna be using already existing sprites because I wanna learn the mechanics before I get myself caught up in the art and realize that I don't know what I'm doing. I'm using agatha christie stories as my base.

If you dipped her sides in just one pixel, underneath her bust I think it would give her a little more femininity!
