help with Argie Ribbs' hair?

My Argie baby Ribbs arrived today and i was able to get him mostly clean, but his tail is being quite the challenge! The tail rust has stained it quite badly, and I was wondering if there was something I could use to get it white again? The hair is so different from any of the other hair i have...itt's more a stark, milky white...very soft but not really shiney like HK ponies. I guess his hair used to be pink (from seeing the inside of the tail clamp) but again, not like any fading pink i've seen before.
Is the tail a lost cause? Is there a replacement hair type i can get to replace it from Dolly Hair or whatever? Should i replace it at all?

Have you tried [whitening] toothpaste? That is what I generally use to get rid of tail rust.

Most would recommend not replacing the hair, but if you do give him a new tail, save the old one.

Yeah toothpaste will remove rust but I've seen his tail... I'm not sure it'll ever be truly white again. I don't mean to sound like a Debbie Downer, but, white is much harder to bleach out. Maybe an OxyClean boil bath after the toothpaste and then a few days in the sun.

I'm about to show you mine in a PM Shell, I can post him here. I really do not think he had pink hair? I've NEVER seen one with pink hair. Can't verify that but mine is on card. Sometimes rust can turn the tail pink-orange...? But, I suppose he could've had pink hair. I really don't know?

Also, I would do the same, I would just get a donor tail from another MLP - Baby Frosting may be a good match... But, Argie hair has weird colors, I couldn't match my Argie Rock ponies pink and yellow to any existing DH colors, so I had to use donor hair from a 2nd Argie Rock pony...

Now, I can say that at the top of his tail it looks kinda pink in these photos but that's from my pink background, honestly to my eyes and in the light, he's more of the DH color "White Witch" in my eyes. But, it's easy for them to fade even under a bubble so, that means nothing. I would love to know if he did have bright pink hair originally...

Her hair is fading pink

I suggest using either whitening toothpaste or soak the tail in neat washing up liquid to get rid of the rust

Sorry I didn't mean that to sound rude - Ribbs is just another great example... like Tornado, where, the pink hair? Eh. White is obviously a better color on Ribbs, especially with the gray/white/red scheme he's already got going on. So I'd die to see one with completely unfaded pink hair, I just put a hank of Pussycat near Ribbs and I just can't picture it,

I just found his toothbrush in the wrapping of his package, so mow i have all his accessories! The snaps for the origional auction didn't have it, so (pun intended) i'm tickled PINK!!
I've used a tonne of whitening toothpaste on it, but it's still faded orange. The ends are nice and white, though and the rest of his body and hair look much nicer now, as well as his sippy cup has come up white, but. The heart faded a little. Not a biggie, i don't think, compared to not having all his accessories I'll keep working on his hair after I've warmed up a bit. It's -40 out and my hands are almost too numb to type!

Oh, wait...yours has a dish and spoon. Does mine have the wrong accessories? He has the same bib, though.

Glad to hear the cup cleaned up, but, shame about his poor tail!

Edit to add also: What did you use to clean up the cup? Just a magic eraser or ?

I tried whitening toothpaste, then I just threw it into the peroxide bath i had his poor tail in. I figured, even if it took the heart compketely off, it was pretty much ruined anyway. I'm glad it turned out ok. He's such a cutie patootie...and Shiney, you didn't sound rude at all. There's still so much we're learning about Nirvanas...perhaps there were 2 versions made

There might have been different accessories? Like the regular FT babies? I'm not entirely sure. I saw another Argie Ribbs in a package who had a pink spoon, while mine is yellow - so, it might just be one of those "random" things that you sometimes see with Nirvana accessories - just kinda gave them random things?

I know you'll be able to fix up his tail over time, you're so good at that kind of stuff! (But errr owowow sounds SO COLD there! Brrrrrr!  )

It's wretched weather...I hate Canada only for this. Everything else about Canada is wonderful...we just need to be a few degrees warmer all the time is all

Mine has an an almost completely faded hair as well; you can really only see the pink if you hold it against a white piece of paper. I think the country they were released in probably does not help with the fact so many of them are faded. Even in box they were exposed to more UV than a lot of places on the globe no doubt

As to accessories - it sounds as though you have the wrong accessories for the pony lol! The peek a boo babies came with the bowl and spoon. It was the Premier Diente - Confetti, Butterscotch, Cotton Candy - babies which came with the sipper and toothpaste/toothbrush.

Totally hijacking this thread to say - Thanks Cat! I was wondering about the accessories myself, wondering if I had the wrong box or if they had like two different types of accessories!

I'd have to think the accessories, especially the toothbrush, are pretty htf...I think they're very sweet. I don't really get why Cotton Candy is a Premiere Dente...doesn't that mean first tooth? Backwards! Lol

Lol! I dunno about that...but I'm rapidly getting a good blend of Nirvanas...Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain...I think that's all of them so far! Lol...whod'a thunk I'd have so many from all over the world? It's kinda cool, actually
