Christmas Baking! Share your favorites
« on: December 12, 2013, 10:32:28 PM »
I LOVE Christmas baking!

My SILs do sugar cookies with the kids every year. That's always cute & fun. This year my work is having a Cookie Exchange. I think I'll bring NYT chocolate chip cookies. You know, extra chocolatey! Haha.

I kinda want to try these for family.

They look super fatty & delicious. Hey! It's only once a year.

Do you do any Christmas baking? What are your family favorites? Are you going to try baking any new treats this year? Share links to recipes if possible!

Oh those do look so delicious :)

I love cooking and baking, so I'll probably make pumpkin pie cheesecake since it's hubby's favourite ;)

My husband refuses to eat regular pumpkin pie now, he says the cheesecake ruined it for him :P Which is funny, because before we got together, he hated cheesecake. Then again, I don't make cheesecake the way that a lot of restaurants do which might be why everyone likes it so much :)

I don't think I'll do any other treats simply because it's just the 2 of us this year. I will be making a full on Christmas dinner, but that's not what this thread is about ^.^

I can't wait to see what other tasty treats people will be making :)

Saying yes would be an understatement.  I go nuts every year, since its the main gift I give to  everyone.

I think I have 6 or 7 things planned this year.  ill be in the kitchen for 2 or 3 solid days.

On the list are these german 'hermit' cookies that remind me of my childhood and were a hit last year, Italian wedding drop cookies, cookie dough truffles, coconut chocolate truffles, candycane/jam thumbprints...and a few other things :)

Hey Beldarna! What's daim? I got graffiti results on google.

It's hard fudge with fine chopped nuts covered in chocolate. Storebought is awesome and home made even more so *drools*

They all sound delicious, but I'm intrigued by these bacon & cheese puffs. Winning combo! Do you have a recipe you'd be willing to share? *hunts around google*

Nice! I've wanted to try making truffles before, but I'm worried they'd taste too much like cocoa powder. Maybe melted chocolate is the way to go, then rolling them in something besides cocoa powder. I looove truffles.

That sounds good! I enjoy things like chocolate covered peanuts & turtles, so it'd probably be to my taste.

and here's the recipe for some yummy gingerbread (australian, so metric and celsius)

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

and if you don't like truffles covered in cocoa, here's how i make mine :)

2 cups finely crushed sweet biscuits (i use marie, but unsure of other country equivalents)
1 400 gram can condensed milk
1 cup coconut
2 tablespoons cocoa
extra coconut for rolling

mix it all together, roll into balls, and roll in coconut. mmmm!!!!

i add a grated peppermint crisp choc bar to mine for something a bit different  and next time i make them i'm gonna dye the rolling coconut green :)

I'm not the one that cooks, my boyfriend is !! Since I will be working Christmas eve, he will do it all xD

There will be a chocolate cake (because I asked for it), egg pudding, a traditional cake from my boyfriend's family side and a few other traditional Portuguese sweets. Basically, a truckload of fat LOL

Well, last night I baked up a few dozen gingerbread men and today I'm decorating them. They are all going to get ugly/tacky christmas sweaters for a tacky christmas sweater party I'm going to tonight!
