Rockin' Beat Confusion
« on: December 07, 2013, 02:46:22 AM »
The Rockin Beats were never really high on my want list so I haven't really paid much attention to them. A while back I got this Pretty Beat from some random person selling old toys:

Then I got this one in a lot off eBay:

So I was cleaning up the blue haired one to sell at the Fair since I thought she was extra but when I compared the two, obviously they aren't the same. Here's the girls together:

Is one a UK version? I thought Tuneful had a UK version (although I don't know the differences, if anyone has pics of the two versions of Tuneful I'd appreciate that too  ). I looked in Summer's G1 book and the blue haired version is shown so I'm assuming the purple haired version is the weirdo  ?

Anyways, any help with the mystery would be awesome.

The purple-haired one is the European (and Australian?) version, not a true UK exclusive but you're on the right track there. I don't think I've ever heard about Euro Tuneful, but my knowledge may be incomplete.

Mul-ta is correct! They're both lovely and you're lucky to have both versions! Oh! And I think their bodies are slightly different colors as well...

Thanks girls ;) yeah the purple hair version seems to have slightly dark body.

Anyone know if Tuneful has a Euro release?

The European Tunefull has darker red-orange hair, and the US version has the bright neon-orange hair. Not a HUGE difference but definitely different. =)

The purple haired Rockin' Beat was sold in Canada because that's what my childhood one looks like! Her body is a bit darker than the American release as well.

Its not as specific as blue v purple unfortunately in regards where ponies were released.

Its actually a release order. She was initially produced and released with the blue hair and then went on to be produced and released with the purple hair. This caused a very small cross over period. So most blue hair Pretty Beats are US releases [as the US got ponies first] and most purple hair Pretty Beats are International releases [as the rest of us got ponies after the core market]. However at the end of the blue hair production and start of purple hair production there were ponies going to both markets; so there were some blue hair Pretty Beats on International cards and some purple hair Pretty Beats on Canadian cards. Confusing!

Tuneful followed the same pattern :)
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
Loa is my love god!
I love Loa more than PonyLady!
