If a pony has rust or smooze without removing the heads or do I have to check all the pony's I get off of ebay?

Smooze is ingrained dirt so it's typically on the outsides.

Rust... well... you can inspect hairplugs super carefully, sniff the tail, get them moist and see if the water is colored, but sometimes only the clamp has degraded and the washer is only rusting against the interior so you usually need to pop their heads off to find out for sure!

As already posted, smooze is going to be easy to spot but rust can hide away unless its made it to a section of the tail which is out side the pony. Often pulling the tail tight though will show more of the tail and pull it to the point at which the washer is pressing against the inside of the pony - that should be enough to tell you if there is something going on.

I agree that you can have the loveliest pony on the outside but it has some issues internally, however its up to you if you pop the head off and check inside. I like my ponies to have their original glue in place so I don't dehead every pony I get. I ll check to see if they have problems and if I spot or smell something suspicious then yes I ll clean it out. But I prefer to leave them as is and I just monitor every pony I have.
