Guess What!
« on: November 22, 2013, 11:32:45 AM »
you don't need acitone to remove paint/symbols or to losen the glue holding the hair in.
you just use really hot water! :frolic:
or is that why most people boil their ponies?

Yes it is a known trick to try and loosen the glue with hot water. I don't know about most people but I never boiled a single pony.

I've never heard of it removing paint/symbols before! I'll be more careful when using hot water in future then!

Neither have I. The suggestion that this may happen is terribly concerning for anyone who tends to give ponies hot baths
This sounds more like a new risk than anything helpful. Does OP have a better description of the process? Because I barely believe it as is.

Which generation are you talking about?  It certainly isn't G1; I've put many many G1s into more caustic conditions than hot water!  :)

Yep. I've boiled G1s to correct stance issues and not once as it taken off a symbol.

The only time I've ruined a symbol with hot water is with a Magic Message pony.  Aside from those, I think you're pretty safe to use hot water on ponies.

I agree I would always use hot water for removing glue from hair [or baby oil :P]

As to removing symbols...unless its a Magic Message pony...then I doubt very much hot water will take symbols off. I cant count the amount of ponies I have used hot water with or even boiled on a few occasions with no issues on symbols at all :)

I'm sorry to say it, but maybe that's because the G4 toys are such a lower quality than the G1 toys.

I've boiled G4 without any problems? Maybe I should try using warmer water next time. v^v

Do you have a before and after image out of nosiness? I genuinely have never heard of warm water removing a symbol - unless you were scrubbing the symbol very hard of if it had already been treated with acetone/rubbing alcohol or similar.
