Deflocked Sundance...? (Photo Added!)
« on: November 20, 2013, 05:34:34 AM »
Okay, so, I got a gross SS Sundance, decided, why not deflock her...

Honestly I made a mess of her, had a terrible time with her flock and symbol so, she's... not like, great. But - anyway. I get down to her feet...

And she has no country on her hoof? Like, only the front leg has the year and hasbro, the other front leg looks like the mold was covered up and there's nothing on her back feet.

I'm not saying this is like some weird crazy awesome nirvana variant whatever - I'm just wondering, were all the SS Sundances like this? I just found it odd... ya know? I can snap a photo in a little bit here...

EDIT:
Here's a photo, click to zoom in...

So here - the bottom front foot has '83Hasbro and Pat Pend... but the top front foot looks like the mold was smooshed out. Back feet also have nothing...

Maybe others can take a peek at theirs to see how common it is? I have no SS ponies, so I'm worthless on this one. :P

I also have a super gross SS Sundance and haven't deflocked her yet...could I just dip her feet in acetone? I know you can't do the whole pony like that, but it would be fast for seeing the feet.  I've never deflocked before.

Yea if you just get the flocking all soaked with acetone and scrape with your fingernail it comes off rather easily on the feet usually. So, the mark that seems like it's "missing" for me is on the front right (if you're looking at her belly) hoof. The front left has like the year and Hasbro...

I'll snap a quick photo. ;)

I'm gonna drop a comment here to keep tabs on this thread. I only have TAF Sundance and no deflock candidates, so I can't add to this thread, but how very interesting! Hope you get some info soon! :D

Interesting! There are NSS Sundances (and other ponies) with no country which many people believe are from Spain. But I doubt any SS ponies were made in Spain so maybe this theory is incorrect/inaccurate? I've always thought there seemed to be too many no country ponies about.

Its not "normal" but its not uncommon either :) They were the later releases of the set - the set got released twice and I believe its the second release where these turn up from.

I have no idea about SS Sundances, but the regular Sundance with NC is the most common Sundance around here. I've never seen one with country markings.

That's funny! Sundance is super common here but of course with foot stamps...

It's just weird that they'd grab this mold - I mean the Pat Pend is still there, which is what I normally see change between 1st and 2nd releases... not a blocked out "Made in" ?

What I'm saying is, what are the chances we deflock like 2-3-4 more Sundances and they're all like this? Good chance? Fair? Ehhh??

1st and 2nd releases are not normally a sign of removing pat pend - thats subject to when they were manufactured.

Traditionally second runs are fewer in number. So you ll get more with than without the stamp but you should still get some of both depending on how many  you deflock.

Hathorcat if that is the case on deflocks then how are we to tell if one is a deflocked or one is a no country true NC?

Well the deflocked Sundance symbol color is darker and more vibrant than a regular Sundance... It's like her normal symbol (in pony hair colors) is Tea Rose, while deflocked is more like... Old Bubblegum... at least, I notice a difference ;)

Hmm, I have to say my childhood Sundance (NC) looks exactly the same as my SS Sundance.  :lookround: But the NC version is nowhere near rare or anything, my childhood one is NC, i've found 3 from flea market, all NC. And around 5-6 in lots from around europe, all NC.  And I know mine was bought right here from Finland.

In my opinion NC sundance is not the same as other NC ponies. I believe the others might actually be from Spain, they look different. But not Sundance. Makes no sense.. but..
